Interesting. Trigon & Arella are real characters in the Teen Titan/DC Comics universe, but I'm not sure why the weird momson overtones are in their lore here? Afaik it's not present in the comics.

just sell the dragons as you hatch them, if you’re only hatching 4/month it’s not that hard

My memory of the OG Teen Titans show is hazy, but I'm positive Arella and Trigon were estranged. This reads like a bad fanfic.

It looks good and it's actually consistent with the M pose. I love it.

(Also I'm glad they didn't revert it fully after seeing the amount of entitled whining over it not being a full revert... this looks nice and doesn't reward the entitles "it's my game" behavior.)

I really hope someone offers to board them, stocks up a full den of 400, then tells ANR that they've got a week to take them all back or they're being kept. Free exalt fodder!

Which I would not normally be happy about it, but this person is *delulu*. Boarding seven thousand dragons is something done for tickets during dom pushes, not over years as someone scrapes together eggs.

Honestly I kind of hope they wait until summer next year at the earliest... ancients lately just don't feel very polished or special to me imo ^^

I have never seen someone board 7000 outside a battle with months to prestock.

(Anonymous) 2024-11-01 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd rather they focus on porting more genes to existing ancients before moving on to an entirely new breed. (Notably Veils and Banes who initially had much smaller expansions vs what Aberrations, Undertides, etc got)

Re: new ancient soon-ish?

(Anonymous) 2024-11-01 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda want them before their respective festivals for the very inconsequential reason that it bothers me that the wind/light festival genes aren’t on their native breed yet.

Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2024-11-01 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
gene expansions so far haven't seemingly really interfered with the ancients releases though?

Ideally I'd like them to just keep doing what they have been. There's been a nice balance of expansions and breed releases imo. Right now they've still got the time to release both ancients before their festivals and sprinkle a gene expansion in-between as well. For example: if the wind ancient came out somewhere in the late-november to early-january period, they could have a gene expansion in the february to april period, and the light ancient around the anniversary; being the "last" ancient, they could make the anniversary event include some cool lore event etc regarding what comes next now that every flight has an ancient breed. Idk how well that would go down in practice since much of the playerbase seems to have taken on an ancient hating attitude for some reason but I myself really enjoy the lore potential and designs of ancients so that at least makes one person who would like another ancient themed anniversary I guess.

Buuut since festivals have parchments now, they technically COULD just give the festival genes to those breeds retroactively through glass and gloss. It'd be a good way to solve the problem of having to otherwise wait until 2026 so if they do decide to delay the ancients until after their festivals, I hope they at least still give them their fest genes at launch. It'd be a lot more boring but I don't know their resources nor do I know how likely they are to bend over backwards to the ancient haters crowd

got diagnosed with a chronic illness that's slowly taking away the old me - has anyone else gone through this? feels so world-shattering. it's severe chronic fatigue syndrome, and there's no known cause or treatment plan. i'm worried I'll have to drop out of college before I fail all my classes. I'm so tired I can never think

Re: OT Thread

I feel this 100% nonny. I have Ehlers Danlos and all the fun things that come with it- chronic fatigue, chronic migraines, fibro, and POTS.

Before the onset of all this crap, I was in the military. I ran 2-3 miles a day. I was a medical assistant after the military, while doing college for a degree in epidemiology. I had hobbies.

Now, I'm bed ridden 2-3 days a week, and I have to make sure that any time I want to do something, I have the next day to recover, because I won't be able to do much at all.

It sucks. It really does, but talk to your professors- some provide summaries of the day's lesson, and many are willing to work with you.

Also try talking to your classmates, see if any are willing to make a deal for notes. (I used to swap with two other chronically ill classmates- whoever made it to class took notes or audio recording, transcripts etc, whatever was our chosen method, and we'd share via a gdrive folder.)

Your hobbies may have to change, and that sucks, but there are hobbies, creative projects, etc, that can keep you engaged and scratch the creative urge- knitting, crochet, drawing, etc. (I'm teaching myself to crochet so I can make little plushies!)

Also, if your docs haven't yet, ask them about testing you for anemia- INCLUDING ferritin. I went YEARS having anemia from low ferritin, and finally got an iron infusion and it breathed color and life back into my world for a few months, and then slid me to a normal baseline- and worlds better than beforehand.

(And caffeine is gonna become your best friend. Welcome to the chronically caffeinated lol.)

yep. been ill my whole life, but i've only been getting worse since i hit 20. more and more diagnoses with no cure but only the 'basic' idea of a treatment plan (rest, hydrate, eat better, exercise when i can). have about 8 surgeons on my care team when i used to have only one, all because my issues have become so hyper specific across several body systems i need additional specialist surgeons in those fields. it sucks when i used to be frail but still able to do intensively laborious hobbies, but now i can barely exist without pain, and constant pain means constant fatigue.

all you can do is your best. if you need sleep, you sleep. if you need to eat, eat. like the other guy said, get additional tests done for ferritin. i even suggest you get a second opinion - or third! - about your condition, because a lot of things overlap and there's things that one doctor doesn't always catch.

find hobbies related to your current ones that you can do on the couch or in bed. get assistive devices and furniture because holy shit life changes when you get a shower seat or a thick yoga mat for those days where showers are hard or you're stuck somewhere because you absolutely HAVE to rest. automatic versions of devices like can openers and scissors are BIG helpers when your fatigue is too high. as for exercise so your fatigue doesn't make you atrophy (also it helps with your brain's mood chemicals), i really find resistance bands great because you're not lifting weights (can be dangerous when fatigued) and the exercises you can do with them can also be done laying down or sitting!

Damn. I'm sorry man. I'll look into getting a ferratin test, even though anemia was ruled out.

The notes thing is a good idea, but my college has a strict attendance policy. If you miss 15% of class you fail automatically, and that's usually only one or two classes. The disability office hasn't been helpful (as they tend to not be) and classes are only 10-15 students large so its obvious when you're not there. It all seems stupid now but when I first got into this college I could've handled this no problem.

I've completely had the mindset that I finish school, go to grad school or start working. What do I do if I can't work or keep learning? I just don't know if I could handle a 9-5, ever. I can barely handle three hours of classes a day.

Thanks for responding, genuinely. I was clearly not having a great time last night and waking up to this put a bit of hope back in me.

Ferritin is often overlooked- mine especially because my anemia didn't LOOK like anemia. I'm on testosterone, which can mask anemia because it makes your marrow make more blood cells than it would without the T. (The fascinating mechanics of how HRT can affect chronic diseases that needs more study, tbh)

Your college isn't immune to the ADA though (If you're American, that is.) If you get your doctor to fill out some forms, you can take them to administration and ask about how they can accommodate you.

Another option is using online courses to supplement your current curriculum! I've been using Coursera to finish some classes I couldn't because of my hEDS, and it's been nice, being able to do color theory and coding in the comfort of my bed lol. They have courses that qualify as credits for most colleges.

If you can't work, it does NOT mean you're worth less. MANY jobs are remote/hybrid now because of covid and long covid- the latter is actually considered a disability per the ADA, it's become such an emerging problem. (Have you had covid? If you did, it's VERY likely you could have developed CF as a symptom of long covid!)

(I don't work because aside from the hEDS, I have chronic migraines and a lot of jobs don't like working around em)

I hope things get better for you soon! (And not to sound like a schill, but there's an app called Spoony, and it's basically a safe social network app for chronically ill folks. I have really enjoyed it because it's commitment free talks with folks who are also disabled, chronically ill, and/or neurodivergent!)

Anon from above, but YES.

Assistive devices are live changing. I got a cane, and it only helps on good days. I got walker, despite the feeling of "Fuck, do I really need this? I feel like I'm faking." and having it on bad days when I HAVE to go out has been a game changer.

I also got myself a shower bench and I can ENJOY taking showers again without worrying about falling or cutting them short.

Wedge pillows for bed can help you get out of bed more easily, and can help bloodflow while you sleep.

and YES resistance bands, small handheld dumbbells (2-10lbs) and isometric stretches are all things that can be done in bed, or at your desk!

And I get so tired of hearing it from folks, but yoga really is a good way to stay limber without getting exhausted- it certainly won't cure anything like folks say it will, but it IS a form of exercise that's low impact and the feeling of being able to do it at all is a good way to keep your confidence up!

Interesting about the iron!!! I am also on HRT so there's not a bad chance that iron supplements would help.

I did have Covid, but it was after the onset of all this fatigue. Not impossible that it made things worse.

I'll look at Spoony. Thanks.

i'm the other anon, but **be careful about iron supplements while on HRT**. if you take testosterone, you LIKELY have high hematocrit, meaning you have A LOT of red blood cells, and with that comes excess iron. iron supplements can be SUPER dangerous and raise your risk of clotting and heart problems. i had to reduce my testosterone dose because of my heart attack history when my hematocrit went above normal and stop all vitamin complexes that had iron in them.

if you take estrogen, it's the inverse: you have LOWER hematocrit. that's when iron supplements will be beneficial, but still seek advice from your general practitioner.

yeah! a lot of these are great to have around regardless of what others or yourself think about having them. they're marketed to older people, but they're for everyone of all ages and a litany of disabilities. something i always encourage others to get regardless of ability level is of those grabby claws to reach things so you don't need to risk falling off a stepstool if you have an episode of weakness.

wedge pillows are really good, and my fiance has one! i personally have a G-shape orthopedic body pillow; they allow you to sleep comfortably and without tossing and turning in all sorts of different positions. you can sleep in it like a pool inner tube, or lay on your side with your legs around the pillow to support your hips, etc. they're also usually 30$ or less on amazon!

yoga is incredible, and sometimes being able to do it is what turns my days from a potentially really high pain day to one where i can at least manage to get important tasks done on time. i have a lot of regimens i can do in different settings like in bed, on the couch, on the floor, etc. so i'm never in a position where i can't do them. stretching via yoga is also super good for releasing chemicals into the body to facilitate pain management and mood boosting! :D anyone who trashes on yoga is weak and will not survive the winter.

I have one of those G shaped pillows, too! Between the wedge and Gpillow, and a weighted blanket, I sleep cradled, and rarely move- which is great because I have subluxed my joints in my sleep from rolling around too much lol.

One of my favorite things that I got to accommodate my needs- and it'll sound so dumb- but I got a Yeti can cooler made for 16oz cans (aka energy drinks) because I have one instead of coffee (coffee tears my gut up lol) and it lets me sip on the thing for a longer period, because it keeps it cool, and lets me have that steady flow of caffeine instead of overdoing it all at once. It's helped me REDUCE the amount of caffeine, and saved me money bc I hate them when they're room temp.

And I use a grabber, too! It makes doing laundry so much easier, especially grabbing clothes out of the bottom of the washer.
