DA, I think you need to look up what entitled means because they are not acting entitled lol
Definitions from Oxford Languages en·ti·tled /inˈtīdld,enˈtīdld/ adjective believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. "kids who feel so entitled and think the world will revolve around them"
I don't think wanting y1 stuff inherently makes anyone "entitled". They aren't saying that just because they don't have it means they deserve it or that they weren't playing the game so it's not fair it's retired or anything like that. I feel I need to put the word entitled on a very tall shelf so people stop throwing it around willy-nilly whenever someone talks about retired items on FR.
TLDR; wanting and entitled to are NOT the same thing, please stop making them the same thing
SA, What most people argue is that the attainability of these items has become increasingly absurd which is completely fair to argue. As someone who started this game back in 2014, I don't think it's wrong to discuss this as an issue with the current day FR market. I won't get into it myself because I honestly don't care whether they come back or not but I don't think people wanting these items to be more accessible in one way or another makes them entitled.
man though, can I just say, on the subject of whether or not the market is in a reasonable place and to what extent y1 stuff in joxboxes would impact that
people in that suggestions thread keep bringing up luminous halos and it is driving me up a wall
you can only ever benefit from one copy of a familiar (weird ducks like 99 light sprites georg over there notwithstanding). hell, tons of people will resell their sprites after awakening them, meaning that they use an average of less than one per person. conversely, you can use as many copies of a piece of apparel as you have apparel slots across all your dragons. in conclusion, i am begging people to stop citing luminous halos as "proof" the value of the items wouldn't change too much. a way more useful comparison would be looking at the value of something like the 2016 familiars compared to 2015 ones, and what percent higher the 2015 cost is relative to 2016. (I have not actually checked this math yet, and I have no idea whose argument it favors; mostly I just want people to stop making the apples and oranges comparison to luminous halos.)
You say this, but I've seen people echoing this exact sentiment you say nobody is saying. They've 100% said "I didn't play when it was released, so its not fair its retired" or "I want it, so I should not have to put in effort to get it, I should be able to just get it." So, yeah, some people ARE entitled about it.
They’re saying “I’m frustrated I was gated out of this cool thing due to being too young/not knowing FR existed/not being allowed to sign up by my parents” and “I’m frustrated at having pay the equivalent of $1600 US for a retired item that people have been actively inflating in the market”.
The only people saying “make this cheap/free” that I’ve seen have been people who are making a joking suggestion. “Let’s *really* crash the economy! Light sprites for all!”
Neither of those sound entitled to me; they’re legitimately frustrating situations to be in. There’s one or two people ranting, sure, but the vast majority of players who want retired items are venting about it in the appropriate place and then moving on with their day.
AYRT, I never said that nobody is acting entitled, I said THAT person is not acting entitled. I also said wanting doesn't inherently make you entitled, not that no one who is voicing support and wants them isn't being entitled. Throwing around that label just makes it lose all meaning which I think people don't realize and then things like this happen where a simple statement gets turned into entitlement.
Not one place in my message do I say NOBODY. I'm not stupid, I know there are spoiled brats out there who do act entitled for those items but not the person here who just said they want sometime usually unobtainable for newer users.
