This. I can't work, so I do surveys on Prolific, and if I REALLY sit down and do them every day, I can make about 15-30$ a day. I also do a Patreon, and every six months, I put all the images in a bundle, and sell it at a slightly reduced bulk rate on itch.io. I also do commissions when I am able to.
It may not be a LOT of money, but it's something.
Also, I feel I need to bring up the following points:
- If they really can't work and have no income, they will qualify for EBT and Medicare. Even in Texas, where I believe they said they were from. And they can't use the excuse of not having transportation, because EVERYTHING is done online.
- If they're on Medicare or EBT, they qualify for a free phone.
I know this, because I am disabled, and I'm on EBT/Medicare, and have free phone service. (I'm not on SSDI, still fighting for it, bc the VA refuses to cooperate.)
Also....and I hate to even bring this up, but if they are native, they could turn to various services specifically for native folks. (Like for example, Native folks who don't qualify for TANF can still get their own form of temporary financial assistance.) Hell, there's at least three housing orgs in TX SPECIFICALLY for Lakota.
There are PLENTY of resources available, and various ways of earning even a LITTLE income.
They're just not trying.... or they're lying. (Maybe not about all of it, but there's definitely some shit being made up or exaggerated.)
