Does anyone else find it weird as fuck that some people are accusing staff of fatphobia based on the body sizes of the newer breeds?
I say this as someone whose favorite breed is Snappers. I wouldn't mind some heavier breeds myself, but trying to make a moral cause out of dragon images strikes me as pretty odd behavior.
there's this weird thing that's happening nowadays that people seem to want to have a Legitimate Reason to dislike/want/ something to change, so instead of just saying "hey, i want more heavyset dragons", they have to turn it into a stance of "this is fatphobia!", even though that's not what fatphobia is.
i think people should just ask for heavyset dragons without making a statement of fatphobia too, anon, i agree.
anon who posted the original comment- oh I completely agree! out of all the breeds that have come out in the last few years, I think the only one I've enjoyed enough to buy a new dragon for immediately was Sandsurges and even then I didn't keep the dragon very long.
also this probably isn't the most popular opinion but I wish the devs would put more energy towards making new site features/customization options instead of pumping out ancient breeds constantly - maybe we'll see a lull in releases once all the flights have one?
Good lord, yes, I'd love to see more features- site supported nest rentals, auctions for dragons ON THE AUCTION HOUSE, stability in the coliseum, more lair/hibden slots, PLEASE.
i get so tired of comments like that. technically speaking i can't imagine they have to do that much to implement ancients or moderns. the base coding is already there and they've done it enough times that all the site needs is some curtains down maintenance.
the biggest work load is the art assets. but even then i know they have multiple artists who are working on different things. recently they were hiring for an artist who could draw scenes, so i doubt that developing a new breed consumes all of the site artists' time.
i feel like FR does a good job of coming out with features that they've been working on behind the scenes. just because it seems like nothing is happening doesn't mean that's the case
Seriously, people need to stop claiming bigotry to justify shit stirring. Just say what you want in a dragon. Besides, default artwork is always going to be Joe average of a breed. They want stockier or muscular breeds. Not fat.
Just want to say, that some of these people absolutely want fat. I saw a complaint about why snappers don't fill the 'fat' niche for them, because snappers come across as too muscular, and they want truly fat breeds, with rolls and everything else associated with being fat.
And I'll be honest, they will probably stay disappointed, as that's not going to appeal to the masses. But that's not fatphobic. That's just not wasting artist time on what the minority want.

I said in a different comment that for some of these people, nothing is going to please them unless it is 100% exactly what they want.
otherwise there will always be a complaint.
