Cool that that's okay but that one Dusthide skin wasn't because the placement of the tongue on the tail was somehow "phallic" or whatever

Or the Aberration skin with a diagram being denied because of the "no suffering rule" despite the fact the dragon was obviously holding a diagram

I remember that one. And that they made the, to me, questionable decision to use red in that diagram. The issue is it crossed lines in a way that candy gore did. It's not gorey because it's intended to be a diagram, but it sets off the same mental reaction with the colors and content.

I believe it was a reasonable rejection.

questionable decision to use red in that diagram... god forbid what is clearly parchment has the color red on it now. it really isn't allowed on skins at all huh

Okay. Here is the thing: without the "diagram paper" that would have not been an acceptable accent. The paper on the edge does not change the content, just the context.

except we know that the context DOES matter a lot, so I'm not sure this holds up as a consistent rationale!

for example: I've seen several cases of accents with dragons holding twigs or incense in their mouths need to be renamed (to names with "incense" and the slightly goofy "chewsticks" in them) but not otherwise modified so as to make it clear that the dragons weren't smoking cigarettes.
