Yeah it definitely is, I think, and it makes making new skins for WCs so intimidating. Somehow starting fresh with a new breed feels less like I'm competing with everyone on the scene. I've considered doing some ridgeback skins for the same reason, that big wing canvas.

Wow is kicking off a three expac cycle which means they've planned a longer story arc than in the past (and they're making more headway on unionizing thanks to Microsoft being surprisingly open to it?), FFXIV is starting their new era of story, and GW2 is releasing something new later this year that's adding player housing so I'm pretty happy about that. Dragon Age 4 went from being vaporware to actually coming out later this year, which is also exciting. It's been long enough that all my personal complicated feelings about dragon age have faded away into acceptance. If the companions are engaging, I'll be happy.

Art RPG like a visual novel? I'm glad you've got friends to do it with you, because it sounds like a fun way to go forward with your ideas in a collaborative space with no restrictions.

I never used to get how FR hurt people's wrists... and then I tried leveling my own fodder. Wow. Absolutely a valid reason to drop the game. I keep hoping the someday pvp revamp will rework how that all works.

Can't believe I forgot about dragon age, considering my dash got filled with people hyped for it. I hope you guys have tons of fun with the game!! I never played a DA game but they sound super fun, might jump in since the series is back from life support haha.

Art RPGs are more like old deviantart groups. You create your character by designing them (or having someone else do it if you're not an artist), and then you can play the game by submitting prompts with art/writing/any artistic media you want! Their concept was always fun to me, but a lot of them were never managed well or felt unfair/too restrictive, so I wanted to make my own for my friends, where we can develop our characters, do plots, roleplay, get items for it etc. We even have a site on works >:)
The development is my main hobby because it takes a lot of time, but it's nice to delve into something that's made just for you and your tastes (+ my friend's tastes).

And yeah, I know there are other ways of making money on fr, but none felt fun/made playing even more of a chore, so I decided to cut my losses and move on and take what I developed/discovered about my own tastes with me. I only really got back to talk about fanthoms because it reached my dash from an artist I followed, oops!

I should probably finish my work for the day, but thanks for the chat. I know drama blogs are for drama(tm) but I like winding down and talking to the folks around when there's an opening. We are both humans behind a screen and it's nice to remember that :) good luck with with your mmos rpgs!
