Yes, I would like more diverse designs, based off of different species of animals etc.. but, I get the feeling some of these people who are complaining (not singling anyone out, just a general feeling) wouldn't be happy with anything that wasn't something like an eldritch horror, or was exactly to their tastes.
(as an example, most people point to snappers as being a 'fat' or 'chunky' dragon, and I saw someone point out that to them, snappers don't fit, because they are 80% muscle)
Again, more diverse body shapes and designs would be nice, but I do feel that some of the people complaining are being too nitpicky/wouldn't be happy with anything even slightly different than their vision.
Beyond that, I feel that some people need to learn that it is okay to quit playing a game when it no longer appeals to you. I know that struggle. It can be hard to quit, especially when you have sunk much of your time and energy into it, and you have fond memories. I am still clinging to neopets, though my grasp is getting weaker.
But, I have also quit games that have redesigned their art to where it doesn't appeal to me anymore, even though I personally loved the gameplay aspects of those games.
Agreed. More diverse designs would absolutely be nice, but it's okay to admit yiu don't like the site style. I also disagree that banescales have same face - the skull arches noticeably higher than a lot of the other long-faces ancients, and that itself is still a head shape difference. Also, not going to lie, as someone who makes my dragons into OCs I don't like Undertides because they feel pigeonholed to certain parts of my lore *and* I like that the poses show breed differences but NOT an overt breed personality, since that means I can make any breed any personality I want. I actually disliked the way DnD used to characterize its races with specific moral alignments for that reason. There's a difference between culture and giving everyone in a certain species a certain personality type.
I think it's definitely possible to make a sea serpent without locking them to water, but honestly part of my issue with Undertidesis their canon lore (abd the awkward af wings compared to body, like...). Undertides just didn't really pull that off to me. Dusthides are a miss for me design wise so I don't keep them, but they actually feel like they could turn up in any elemental territory when one of tge big draws is "any breed can be anywhere, you can have whatever lair you want." Not sure if I'm making sense.
This is a post I enjoy on the diverse body shapes - not copying the house style but I can see these designs in it & op takes the square canvas restriction/having space for linebreaking stuff into account!
