The "my style is a bit closer to frs house style" from bakugames bit is strange because their style is sure as hell not closer. The other breed redesigns they've done are so far removed from the site's style:

Like, I get the sentiment there should be more diverse dragon body types, but attempting to use such a highly different style as a counterpoint does not help imo. You're better off looking at other things staff artists have done like osiem whose literal job is to make art assets within FR's style.

Or even that one other Dusthide redesign set from a user who is closer to site style.

God I wish Aethers had been those both dragons from Osiem instead. So fuzzy. So cute. Actually has an (albeit short) snout.

I like several of Bakugames' designs too, for the record. That Guardian in particular feels like something I could see on the site. I'd really like to see a crocodilian-inspired dragon in general - I feel like their headshape could perhaps be a good compromise between "more unique shapes" and "still looks very dragon-y"

Also this may be an unpopular opinion but I'd replace Wildclaws with Bakugames's version in a heartbeat. Current Wildclaws are probably my least favorite breed design, all naked-looking and weirdly structure

*moth dragons, not both dragons. Although the other design is cool, too

Dusthides would have been totally redeemed if they got this particular design. Holy s***.

Osuem's redesigns are nice AF too.

For clarification, those are not redesigns of any particular breed and are just fan breeds osiem used as demonstration for gene drawing tutorials. They're not intended to have any actual connection to site Ancient designs.

I wish those mothdragons would have been aethers and the stockier dragons dusthides, they would have been perfect. Different body shapes always look so much more refreshing than your standard FR noodle base design.

Looking at Bakugames, most of them look furry. Mirrors don't look sleek anymore, they look rather fuzzy. Same thing with Pearlcatcher.

I really am glad that veils don't look like Bakugames' version. They are one of my favorite ancients, and Bakugames' doesn't have the feature I love the most, their manes.

Again, most of theirs are either very insectoid or very fuzzy, so I don't see how they are saying that they are more 'diverse' (bodyshape wise, they also all look pretty much the same. Either fuzzy floof balls or solid lizard like dragons, with the occasional insectoid.)

Not saying that their designs are bad, just that they also all fall into the same 'trap' that FR's dragons do according to the thread: they all have a lot of the same features/body shapes. (and aren't to my tastes)

For Osiem's I actually like the dusthides better than what we got, but not the aethers.

Looking at the redesigns... yes. Not bad art, not bad creature design, but I am very glad these designs are NOT on FR. Veils are my favourite breed, if they looked like that I would yeet all of them lol

osiem's fan designs make me despair because it would absolutely be what the community would have loved. differently shaped and different animal-based dragons, fitting their flight/environment, and 100% still using the full scope of the box limitation. that dusthide of theirs is just so good.

Please, I beg, they're NOT meant to be Aethers and Dusthides! Those are completely unrelated fan breeds osiem made in 2019 just to use an as example for tutorial on how to do draw Slime/Sludge and Wasp/Bee. Do you guys not know how to read lmao.
