There is a clear difference between art that is clearly an artist trying a different style and art that is evidently AI art. I am an artist as well and my style is inconsistent because I like to try new things or just am unhappy with how I draw in general. That being said, you can tell that my art is still my own rather than me just suddenly posting AI art. Why you may ask? Because I don't draw like AI with the weird mistakes that AI makes; such as the bottom of the outfit in the dragon's bio. The weird lines clearly look to be AI because the AI wasn't smart enough to complete the outfit, it was just copying other art and mashing it together. There is a difference, don't just assume people are saying you can't try different styles. That is not what this is at all.
Yeah I know they were but they mentioned AI in their response several times so clearly they were more worried about being accused of using that than being accused of being a thief. That's why I focused more on that in my reply.
As for the art theft stuff, imo AI can be considered as such because the AI is stealing from other artists in the first place so if someone uses AI I consider them a thief anyways.
I also think them saying that they hate people like like that who are gonna ruin their experience as an artist because people now accuse them of using AI was a bit excessive either way. Most people can tell art that is clearly AI and art that is not, and people who can't usually post in places like here or those salt blogs on tumblr asking for opinions before reporting. There are of course a few bad eggs who jump the gun and just report stuff but in general I don't think most users are like that.
