Hopefully we can see better battles in 2024. LvA was a no brainer right from the start, even if people wanted to support Arcane because this or that. WvI was not very eventful either. At least the money was good.
Shadow/Nature - they both seem to have decent dom teams that have the same issues (bigger flights, more casual/non-dom players) so it seems like a fair match
Nature/Arcane or Shadow/Arcane - might work too but Arcane was a little disorganized in this battle so idk
Wind/Nature - they seem well matched; Wind is probs stronger but I doubt it'd be a noflip
Plague/Ice/Light/Earth/Water - tbh I think any match up from these five would be a battle worth watching; Water noflipped Ice twice so maybe not that particular one.
Light will never touch Earth again with a 10 foot pole, the light dominance team has publicly said they dont think its worth it due to the ratio, they'd inevitably lose. I think they'd fight anyone else in that list, though.
This is a shame. Besides Water, Light is in the best position to attempt a battle with Earth, even if it's not an advantageous position.
Would like to see them take a risk. It's unfortunate that Earth seems to be out of the battle scene unless Water wants to fight them for a second time or Fire develops competence.
AYRT Arcane approached Light for this battle, that's on them. And Light has fought Earth twice and got curbstomped both times. The second time made the Dom Team disappear out of lack of interest in the site anymore and Light is only just recovering from that. It's reasonable for them to not want to waste their resources on something that's doomed. Let flights who actually stand a chance like Water take on Earth.
I quit taking part in dom efforts anything more than casually after fighting hard in both those battles. Earth can't be beaten yet by Light, let Water try next.
Yeah and? This is a game, after all. If you know going into a fight that you’ll have a long, expensive, and tedious week when you know you’ll lose, there’s not a lot of appeal in that. Can’t blame them for not wanting to do it.
as far as ive seen said, 1) because it was a flipless battle, 2) because some arcane members were unkind to some shadow members during it. but i don’t know what that means exactly
Water vs ice was uneventful because one side had been prepping most of the year for a different opponent that backed out and the new one had like 2 months at most. It would have been a good battle if Ice hadn't come in behind

(Anonymous) 2023-12-04 01:26 am (UTC)(link)Light did fight Earth twice already, albeit six years ago now. Two nearly flip-less battles in succession isn't forgotten easily though.
A Earth vs a competent Fire could be interesting.
Re: Light wins
(Anonymous) 2023-12-04 01:27 am (UTC)(link)nearly flip-less is certainly better than what we've seen this year

(Anonymous) 2023-12-04 01:52 am (UTC)(link)god i *hope* fire becomes competent (said as an ember). that would make things a lot more interesting
Re: Light wins
(Anonymous) 2023-12-05 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)Both those losses were pre hibernal den. The game has changed in a big way that (imo) benefits Light over Earth in this scenario.
So yes, emotionally, I see why they're wary. Statistically, I don't think it's as relevant anymore that they lost twice in 2018 or whatever.
...Or maybe they just don't want to pay for it. It would be an expensive battle, that's for sure, lol.
