OP of this thread, I saw something on SMR about a recent bank fiasco with Arcanedom? Anyone got details? I'm curious if that affected the battle.

Hopefully we can see better battles in 2024.
LvA was a no brainer right from the start, even if people wanted to support Arcane because this or that.
WvI was not very eventful either.
At least the money was good.

i fear the culture of being an extremely light dom flight has sealed our fate of never winning anything but our festival. it’s unfortunate, i feel like i HAVE to move somewhere else to experience anything beyond that.

Is there any chance of the dom system ever being retooled or rebalanced to give more flights a fighting chance?

nah, the system is fine. the problem is people have settled into whatever image flights have. want dom? go to the dom flight. don't want dom? chill with the non-dom flights. its a cultural problem at this point. people need to either get their shit together and help their own flights or become freeloaders elsewhere.

iirc Dom was on the staff's list of things to refactor but, frankly, I doubt that the changes will be either significant or good - look no further than the pinglist 'update', aka 'let's kill dom and most of the communities', an obvious example that staff do not seem capable of in-depth research into complex issues and needs. And without an in-depth look, dom works exactly as intended.

That said, my hope would be for in-flight leaderboards and bonuses of any sort to the top 1%/3%/7%.

State of Fire dom?

Can anyone in Fire comment on the state of dom over there at the moment? I've been strongly considering vacationing to Fire at the start of next year and want to help out with stuff, but I don't want to jump over that soon if the dom structure is still too big of a mess.

Not in Fire but I believe the old dom leads are still involved and I don't think two dom teams is going to lead to more organization, so...

It's unclear on whether Duchess is completely out of the picture or just in the background of the Ashfall Alliance (the original dom team), but it has been smoother since she has taken a step back.

Eieru, as far as I can tell, has been very organized about spearheading Foddart and remaking threads. She has sent out prep hub pings for NotN's push and we have a much more coherent list of things that we need for the push. Theme polls went out in a timely fashion a while back.

Blazebrem has also been posting a newsletter to keep embers up to date, which has been an improvement.

One thing that I think the Ashfall Alliance is suffering from is regaining public opinion / enticing embers to participate, even if the leads are doing better.

I have heard very little from the new dom team since it was formed. They have a bank thread and an introduction post but have not made any announcements or planned any pushes, to my knowledge.

anyone else want to see more chaos with dom? maybe this is an unpopular opinion but i'd like to see less gentlemen's fights and more impromptu chaos. i want to see people pushing during their opposing flight's festival and people jumping in on big fights to make it a sudden three way battle. would be more fun imho. ofc this would need dom restructuring first though, as it currently is 1 flight would just dominate the whole time. but with changes i think it might be fun to be more ruthless about trying to win. idk i like the idea of everyone actually being in constant competition rather than it being all coordinated

As most assumed, Arcane never stood a chance. They never even got close. Light, predictably, destroyed them.

looks like Light getting their dorming up a week early made no difference, after all. They beat Arcane in everything except 0t dragons. and by a lot.

I'm in Arcane and I'm not surprised tbh. I thought about joining thr battle this year but I knew it'd be a curbstomp so I didn't bother lol

Kind of a bummer but, oh well. At least we got 2nd place Dom perks!

I miss the Before Times, before the curtain was pulled on how dragon levels work for the dominance board. (That level 25s are the same as 5 level 5 dragons and thus not worth the effort.)

What happened to Fire Dom's raffle?

Just realized that the host took an unannounced break after drawing the first round of winners. Presumably they sent out those prizes since they updated the prize pool, but then they kind of disappeared.

No updates that I could see anywhere in the thread about a pause or when they were resuming. It's been a week since any activity at all.
