An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

yeah i agree that criticism of the design is… misplaced, it’s a dragon focused website and they’ve used other cultures’ ideas of dragons for design inspiration before. the look of the dragon isn’t even reminiscent of war bonnets, it’s just a stylized feathered crest. the lore, yeah, i can see an issue there (but frankly i just ignore site lore anyway, especially ancients bc they’re a bit of a mess in my opinion), but the design itself… bit of a reach. the only iffy thing is the wicker/woven genes- paired with the lore, that seems misguided.

ayrt - i am probably the wrong person to comment on it but i feel that the breed which has parallels with other fantasy ~native~ tropes having an exclusive gene that turns them into a woven basket is somewhat uncomfortable. not trying to blow it out of proportion or claim that the devs are intentionally racist, just observing that native cultures often get reduced to these same handful of visual tropes.

ayrt again - oh and one more thing that i missed in my other reply, they also have ‘terracotta’ as an exclusive gene so it’s like… basket weaving and clay pot motifs for a parallel of native culture, how original.

DA terracotta gene seemed potentially dubious to me too but I'm not sure
