Spooky Spite

An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

I think that was the race to 8 million group being used as an unacceptablepkaystyle, personally. That shitshow needs banned after making the site unusable.

uh oh, what happened there?

Special ID hunters got all hyped up for ID 90 million and that means a fuck ton of people were hatching nests and eggs all at once and keeping track of random user's hatches too. There should be a thread about it in FRD "countdown to 90 million" or whatever. There's plenty of instances where people would share random dragons that didn't belobg to them like omg look at dragon #8888869699

Admittedly it also took me a second to realize that must be what Aeroquin was talking about even with me having lurked on that thread at the time.

DA

I don't think it was what Aeq was referencing, though? I mean, hadn't she previously posted on that countdown thread? I know it was just to say "talk of sales here is fine" but I feel like if the sharing of random dragons wasn't okay, it would've been posted there- or in past SIDHA threads / special ID countdowns which have been happening for years with staff not saying anything (or hell, even something said in the "interesting AH dragons" thread)

DA I think sharing of random dragons in threads is considered fine bc it's just people chatting as opposed to staff introducing a mechanism for people to more easily find other people's notable dragons, thereby condoning the playstyle.

Was THAT the reason the site was so laggy? How did that happen?

Basically dragon 90 million was due to hatch. So these people, in their brilliance decided to sit and search the site over and over counting each hatch.

The day of, once they broke dragon search, they moved to the scrying workshop, using the Id option there to keep breaking things further, without care for site stability.

That makes sense but gdi they suck because the site was barely usable for me to the point that it made my ENTIRE BROWSER lock up to the point of freezing my computer.

I hate all of them and hope their hard drives break.

The site's miserable search that can't index more than 300 pages at a time and can't actually filter useful information that would make the list of results useful and smaller for things like this is what keeps making the site break. People are still going to keep searching for IDs and the site is still going to go ridiculously sluggish because the most generous filters you can use for hatchlings still attempts a search of 100k+, of which you can only actually view 7500. The fact that you can generate that many results at all and there isn't an arbitrary cap on the search at all and it shows you the exact results of every ridiculous search you make just makes the circumstances worse.

People really need to stop just showing off people's random dragons, especially when directly linking then is expressly banned but people don't stop doing it regardless. But beyond all that - the pinglist bit won't actually help with any of the Special ID stuff. There's nothing about it to be helped. It's incredibly out of left field for them to mention and unless they ban the onsite threads entirely just sounds like they're grasping at straws.
