An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

there is no set date yet when the mass pinglists are being sunset, the devs are not saying you cant mass ping anymore, the devs are listeing and trying to figure out a way to make the community happy and move the pinglists on-site

leave it up to the FR community to freak about a new QOL addition to the site and not even properly reading the announcement post and the dev responses

i am personally so sick and tired about people on the site screaming and crying like little kids when the devs add a new feature to the site or change something and act like it is the end of the world, that is what happens if you pull the majority of your users from tumblr and twitter.

where in my comment did i scream and cry like a little kid? i acknowledged that it's not taking effect immediately and that staff is listening to user feedback. i just expressed that i think it's a bad idea

I think the source of worry is the 'yet' part of that platitude- mass pings will not be sunset any time soon, but they will *eventually*, which breaks significant parts of huge subcommunities like swipp swap pinglist, gasp, and ESPECIALLY dom

do you think staff can make their own gasp? how will that work? how could they possibly replace the g1 pinglist, the special id pinglist, the oldies pinglist, the two letter name pinglist… how could they do that? i am genuinely asking. it’s a major blind spot. and if someone thinks this will be a negligible change, i invite them to explain how. yes, staff plans to address the needs of the community. but those of us who are invested in any community that uses pinglists are telling you that it will be incredibly difficult for staff to satisfactorily resolve this with on-site alternatives to very complex tools-critically important tools that aren’t going to be important to every user.

The only people "screaming" I've seen were those that complain about some mysterious other people "screaming".

I'm also having serious doubts that an update can be called "QoL" when it isn't even compatible with dominance, an integral and official site activity that involves multiple people possibly pinging multiple other people when the official "pinglist" allows only one person to ping, never mind the lack of compatibility with anything else.
