yeah, i'm wondering if this might be about someone whose name has been on this page already anyway xD cold-calling scammers are the worst. it's dragon game, play nice. you don't have to be mean to Anna who joined FR in high school & is popping back in now because she just remembered the website exists after 7 years of being away. coming back, making a deal with someone who seems nice in PMs, and then finding out you've been scammed out of an incredibly special dragon is just the kind of thing that would make someone quit the website. i made up Anna & that scenario, of course, but it's based on real FR player behavior :P
Ngl, it's pretty odd to me that it seems pretty acceptable on FR to cold message someone for their dragons/items/what-have-you that they don't have listed anywhere explicitly for sale/trade. Unless they have an explicit 'do not message about x' on their profiles that is, but you know people on FR can't read and there isn't any way to preemptively block messages/CRs from randoms like that.
And of course scammers take advantage of that and usually throw in guilt-trip, oversharing, misleading reasons or all of the above...
I thought it was strange at first, then I remembered none of the forum based games I used to play in late '00s and '10s had options to block PMs from specific people/groups. It was just block if they're bothersome or ignore.
We can hope it's added when rewriting the code is finished, they really should upgrade their forum features...
