I used to play an MMO that put the most egregious shit in their achievements system (I’m talking stuff that takes like 1k+ hours of grinding, getting a rare drop from a timegated boss that also takes a fuckton of grinding to reach etc.) so it’s a little funny to me that people are writing walls of texts over achievements that take a few clicks daily for 5-6 years. What’s even funnier is that some of these folks also seem to be on the site for 6 years and even more?
I ain’t reading all of that but I don’t feel too strongly about it either way.
Yeah, if this were something that required more effort than 'sign in, click 5 buttons a day, with a couple of days needing more clicks' I would be more against it.
But, the achievement reads to me like it is meant to be a more passive one, where people get it when they get it. not one actively tried for.
It also hasn't been brought up in thread, because it is a hypothetical, but there is also the potential of players being able to get the achievement quicker down the line, such as (if I recall, hatching eggs also counts towards the achievement) a new ancient breed for NotN so you can get that breed eggs as well as Nocturne eggs. Or a new ancient whose eggs can be gotten through the coli. Or even a revamp on breeding, that changes how it works to make it easier to breed.
Easy or hard it’s still ridiculous grinding, and the staff usually make a big point to make playing this game not grindy. Just because worse examples exist doesn’t mean it’s not still kinda shitty.
If it were the only breeding achievements I'd have an issues, but they're fine as is. You don't have to actively be doing more than a few clicks a day to earn these so not bad at all like other nonnys said.
It's definitely long and I wouldn't mind shortening it, but on the other hand.. I've been on the site since 2014 and I'll no doubt be here for another 5/6 years, so I'll get to it eventually anyways.
