Good to know someone valuing their work is scummy.
I bet you use AI and think you're an artist.

Yeah idk how I feel about the person who called it "just 15 bucks." I'm just glad that this hasn't caught on with other accent artists. If one person does it, it's no big deal, but if everyone started doing it I'd be pretty upset...
DA
I agree with you on half of this. Artists should be allowed to price their own art at whatever value they want to put on it. If someone doesn't want to pay that much or can't afford it, then obviously don't buy it. Artists absolutely do not owe anyone anything.
But your "15 bucks, big whoop" comment is out of touch and insensitive. $15 can be the difference between eating and not eating for some people. I get that if you are having trouble paying for food, in general you shouldn't be wasting money on skins, but my point is that while $15 may be nothing for some people, to others it is worth a whole lot more.

i miss the early 2000s for this actually being true

a meal is undoubtedly important but $15 can get at MAX two mcchickens where i am 😠where is this anon located where $15 can buy a kings chicken feast
I can get a mcchicken for like 1.34 where I’m at. Maybe I couldn’t get 15, but I could definitely grab 10. I’m in the US South though, so, that’s the price I have to pay for cheap mcchickens. 😔
A SMALL French fry is 2 dollars here though, which is crazy. That’s the real rip off, not a dragon skin.

dammmn lol, even in the middling midwest it was more expensive than this for me, around $4 a mcchicken
congrats on your feast potential, sorry about the texas

I currently have 26 active breeding pairs. They're for a project and I couldn't find super close colors without either paying an arm and a leg for dragons or coughing up for wildclaw scrolls at the end.
I'm not clogging nest rentals tho, just breeding them as soon as they come off cooldown on my own nests.

Lol this person pinged for 20 FUCKIN NESTS AGAIN.
I'm honestly about to block them because they are just abusing the system at this point.

You've misinterpreted my comment. 15 bucks is the the difference of eating or not eating for me. It's also a very cheap price for a piece of art at that quality, even if people are used to getting skins for the "market price" of a few dollars on FR. It's still pretty dumb to price things above what people are willing to pay for if you're trying to actually sell your art, but that doesn't mean the art isn't worth more than the base price of a shitty sketch on Twitter.
I know that the FR skin market is its own bubble that varies next to UM skin and apparel markets on other sites, as well as the rates for original art in general... But even considering the possibility that anon has never looked at art pricing outside of FR umas, it's still weird to see people calling an artist scammy over pricing a skin this for 15 bucks. :P

I think more people that I actually want UMAs from would have incentive to make UMAs.

$15 is $15 dollars.
but saying "1500g is $15 & therefore an accent being priced @ 1500g is scummy" is ridiculous.
1500g skins aren't the problem. people pay that & more all the time, and the USD price to purchase 1500g isn't the true "value" of any given 1500g, because there's no Legitimate way to turn gems back into dollars.
flipping other people's 500g accents for 1500g en masse is the part that edges into scummy territory. there's "natural price increase over time," & then there's "immediate reselling for ten times the initial price."
regardless, nothing about reselling and/or its morality has anything to do with how an artist prices their own art.

sorry y'alls but i am sick of seeing this dragon & OP's weird hangwringing, especially since they've pinged oldies collector's lists SO many times trying to sell him at wild prices (alongside all their other overpriced dragons)
to quote from the new scatter thread:
"I think he knows I'm not attached to him, and that I don't love him very much.
It does make me happy to see that he makes people happy, but maybe, it's about time that I try to have him make me happy. Selling him hasn't been an option for a long time, since I'm simply incapable of being convinced :<
... So.
(... Tomorrow or Sunday, I think I'm going to scatter him again. Depends on whether or not I can be talked out of it.) He's getting scattered."
the thread was created mid-July, with the 1415th scatter on this dragon. as of now, the beginning of August, we're on scatter #1700. @ 350g a pop, that's 100,000g worth of scatters in less than a month.
where is all that money coming from? usually i would guess UMA sales, but all three art shops linked in their signature are years-old & desolate.
is this person one of the fabled FR whales?

i don't have any thoughts on where the gems come from but i do have a medium spicy level hate for people who put their dragons on ah purely for attention. i block on sight for the ones clogging up already small listings like low digits, just why
~ Round and around and around and around we go ~
Holy crap, where do you live where mcchickens are that expensive!?
I don't think they're a whale so much as an opportunist. IIRC, they backed ks for dv, lw and others, then capitalized on selling the ks items before the site tanked.
Also, that's such a waste of gems and a blatant flaunting of said gems bc who the fuck scatters an orca/obs/obs

this person is just kind of obnoxious in general
Yeah I agree I think nonnies up thread were conflating someone flipping a bunch of skins with someone setting high prices for their own UMAs, which is two different things. 15kg is also less valuable than $15 for sure, calling it the equivalent was honestly generous. Can I use it to buy McChicken? (Call me if you want to trade 15kg for McChicken)
I'm getting flashbacks to the person that had a tantrum on SMR about an artist setting high prices and limited slots for a skin run a few months ago, and how it was so mean and immoral of the artist to not dedicate hours of gametime to managing bigger spreadsheets and fulfilling tons of cheap orders. How dare they have limited slots for a skin other people were willing to pay for!

ysdaar has always been as ass about skin reselling that is a fact
i remember him years ago get real aggressive about people saying it's bad etiquette to resell skins for 4-5 times as much as the artist printed. "people can just not buy it, i can do what i want"

I like them well enough. I do most of the pursuits (can't be bothered with the morphology and dressing room ones) and I chug away at the achievements. I'm storing up the points, as I'm sure there'll be new things in the store over time.
normally im in the "its someone elses dragon so why would u care about what they do with it" crowd but this person has clearly been doing it for dumb amounts of attention. why tf else would they post about scattering an orca/obs/obs and wanting people to stop them from doing it. its just waggling their e-peen around on the forums for another few months
also do they really have nothing better to spend their gems on lol
