is it even a slur though??? i've been in the lgbt community for like over a decade at this point and have seen the dumbest discourse but i have never heard of "les" specifically being used as a slur. i mean maybe it is somewhere but i've also heard people just using it as shorthand...
This is honestly the first time I've seen that referred to as a slur. I've always seen it as short for 'lesbian'. Wouldn't be surprised if it's just those people making shit up to be offended by with how much of a shitshow that whole convo in the screenshot is.
DA The explanation that's been thrown around regarding les being a slur is that its considered a derogatory term in Vietnam. When asked about it in the original ask, M3g4l4d0n linked this Wikipedia page.

I am not Vietnamese, and I don't know who in the situation is Vietnamese, but considering the general FR demographic being American, this comes off as one hell of a fucking reach. I mean, it already is one since it was clear Blood was using it as a shortened form of lesbian.
At least where I live I've heard it used as a somewhat derogatory term on occasion, but not very frequently and not really on the level of a slur. It's more of a way to try and be a bit disrespectful and tactless than anything else. Very teenagery? That said it's also just.. sued as shorthand by lesbians too so like it can really go either way.
