Yeah that thing with Dakk/captain-chompers and SMR mods deleting and screening the submissions about them was a whole goddamn mess, but at this point given the history of how the mods run the place, not all that surprising? I notice that SMR filters out about half the asks I send complaining about people's iffy behavior, so I guess the mods are chummy with a fair amount of wankers. (FYI None of these people are on the blocked topic list or listed in an 'we've over-exhausted this topic, no more asks about this' post) For example I sent an ask this week vaguing the person that keeps trying to stretch the definition of tracing and art theft for bullshit accusations. They never published it, but again I'm not surprised lol
The thing with tumblr is its hard to know when you're being ignored by the mods vs. The Very Functional Website fucking up with asks again (not specific to smr)
If that were the case I'd expect my asks about AH or coli to vanish at an equal rate, but nah, it's always and only the asks about specific wankers. And if I send multiple asks about them after noticing that my initial ask seems to have vanished into the void those also don't get published. SMR mods definitely do a fair amount of curating when it comes to screening unflattering asks about their friends.
I honestly thought this was what was happening earlier, especially since some of my asks included links to screenshots. I had the syntax edited to prevent it from being eaten, but figured tumblr might still be preventing them from going through, so at some point I started double checking by sending a copy of asks myself to make sure the site wasn't eating them based on the content. All of the asks I checked went through to myself just fine. None of them were posted on SMR. The submissions I sent about a couple of wankers also didn't get published, so it's not just asks that they filter out.
DA if you linked to a screenshot it's possible you didn't censor correctly or they decided the info in the screenshot was too identifiable. you could just ask!
Thanks for going through the trouble of checking the asks like that. I've also come to the same conclusion, that SMR "plays favorites" so to speak when it comes to what asks they let through. And to clarify, I'm not complaining about reasonable things like putting a pause on an overplayed topic, or disallowing name-drops in submissions, or restricting hate speech. It feels like there's a whole secret set of rules I'm not privy to. Whoever said "cliquey," that's definitely the right word for it.
