Disagree. If they didn't reply to a PM, it's reasonable to assume they won't reply anywhere else either bc life happened or something came up, etc. On the other hand, a profile message or pinging could count as harassment, so I'd be EXTREMELY wary about trying to contact them again through other methods unless explicitly given permission to.
+1 i had a commissioner who was lovely in every way. they were cordial, politely pointed out things they wanted changed about the piece, etc. during the finalized "is this good?" stage, they didnt respond, so i poked them a day or two later and they gave me an extremely terse "please remember people have lives outside of (website i was doing commissions on). i will respond when i have the time to, it's really unprofessional" etc etc. then they paid me and i silently blacklisted them lol
anyway. seems like shamirr is looking for any reason to be pissbitchbaby about it, and would have used reminder messages as fodder for why theyre unprofessional
I agree that the artist should have waited a little longer for a response from the commissioner before continuing work, but I don't think the shamirr's response to slap callouts on multiple sites about this while simultaneously trying to smear gravna for "tracing" a pose in a free-to-use stock photo -on someone else's commission- was in any way proportional or appropriate to this mistake.
I don't mean instantaneously or anything. Give it a week and then try another method to contact if you have one, and if they don't respond to that, give it another week and then try another (if possible). It takes a while, but it's not your fault if you try to reach out through all the avenues you have and then move forward when nothing happens.
A single profile ping or thread ping can hardly count as harassment when you're doing a service for someone and promise communication of some form. I honestly feel really sad - as someone who has done art professionally for decades - that this seems excessive/possible to FR users (not saying you! saying the hypothetical situation someone who commissioned an artist sees an artist trying to reach out to them and fulfill their duty once a week as harassment), as it's just a standard protocol in business. It's not similar to what Shamirr is doing by copypasting their complaint on multiple threads within hours, and if staff can't see that and punish a user sending a small handful of messages over days/weeks to complete a transaction, then the site must truly be doomed in the eyes of the players.
