ohhhh, that makes sense, I only ever knew about the fandom side of things and how so many communities and users switched to dreamwidth in waves everytime lj made a big change that messed things up (like when they auto-collapsed nested comments in posts? that was the last wave of users switching sites I saw)
I'm glad it's still around, it's so sad when websites just disappear or get bought and ruined (here's looking at you, deviantart)
