⚠️ Unscheduled Maintenance ⚠️ The #FlightRising website is currently unavailable to players while we investigate an issue. Thank you for your patience while we work!
Update: At approximately 14:00 server time today, March 31st, we detected an attempted cross-site scripting (aka, XSS) attack. (1/4) #FlightRising
The site was put into an unscheduled emergency maintenance out of an abundance of caution, so that we could perform a thorough audit to ensure the security of the site and everyone's accounts.
...we will remain in an emergency 'curtains down' maintenance. The Mistral Jamboree will be extended by however many hours we have to keep the site down as a result of this attempted attack. (3/4)
We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we continue our investigation and audit. (4/4)
Hello everyone! We have another update for you regarding today’s emergency maintenance.
This was an attempted XSS attack. We were able to interrupt the attacker while they were in the middle of probing for vulnerabilities in our site’s defenses.
At this time, we have no reason to believe that player or employee information is compromised by this attempt. If you are concerned about financial information, Flight Rising does not store any of your financial information. All gem purchases are handled by either Paypal or our credit card processor, Braintree.
In the interest of the security of the Flight Rising website and our employees’ well-being, we are keeping the site in the emergency curtains-down maintenance overnight. It’s important that we monitor the site when we come out of maintenance and it’s currently after 10 pm for much of our team. Tomorrow we will have more information for you about what happened today, along with an update on the Mistral Jamboree extension.
aww, i was hoping they might be back up tonight, but oh well. as always, props to them for the open/prompt communication and prioritizing their well-being. hopefully the april fools plans aren't derailed? i mean, would bum out players for sure, but i can't imagine it would feel good for them to have an event get fucked up because of some wannabe hacker asshole either :/
I haven't had time to be on ARR lately, just popped back in to see what the deal was with the maintenance. Was amusing that the first think I saw was a very appropriate main post title.
I'm hoping (with a certain level of confidence) that staff will top off our dragons, the way they've done in the past when the site was down. If they do, then I've no complaints; I'll just read a book, or go outside and touch grass, or something like that.
I was doing the same thing, but it's the last day, so I guess I've gotta buckle down and start clicking. It's not even just the scene - I always run short of gravel to make fest skins, so there's so much coli crap I wish I could convert into it more easily.
Yeah, it's just a question of there being no other use for some coli crap ever, so might as well do this with it while there's the opportunity, if it weren't so tedious. (Really, it would be nice if we could do the same for all the other regular fest skin components I always run out of.)
