Ya'll need to fire/overthrow AA. There is no transparency with your bank which is absolutely absurd, and with those insulting raffle prices (10.5k for level 7, seriously????)... They clearly are just using the bank/FF just to line their own pockets. It's probably best to start fresh (which sucks as this is the second time for fire), but you have no idea how much they embezzled at this point or what they even have.
This is disgusting, and embers deserve better. I am so sorry.
i kinda want to know what the end result of said oversharing was, but i wouldn't be surprised if nothing actually happened because the people with moderation powers are never around.
what the fuck? dipping into dom funds for your literal biggest event of the year is a no brainer. its a celebration of your flight and also a great opportunity to flex/show off your community when all eyes are on you. them not wanting to spend anything on that is so baffling and as an OOFer i have 0 confidence in fire's ability to get their shit together if they actually want to conquest.

I just want to say this really touched my heart. This is such a smart way to ensure they don't oust themselves too. Thank you for offering to help this anon ember.
I know my flight does it because we're proud of our community. Also, it attracts players moving flights.
This stunt is driving away members of the flight, making people not want to join, and if fire plans a battle, I'll be supporting the other side.
Also... Considering the board right now, if I were fire, I would be sweating. The fact the Earth is still ahead of beastclans says a fair bit about exalt totals. They aren't guaranteed a win if they can't stay ahead of Earth's profit exalters that they didn't offer enough incentive to send dragons their way.
If a flight loses to Earth by accident, this is the perfect storm of things to make it happen.
many reasons, including it being a massive opportunity for flight pride, showing off your flights wealth, and giving back to the community.
think of it like a parade. if youre an organization that's going to have a parade, that you've known about all year, and you have a million dollar budget for... would you want to have it be people lazily walking through just because you're scheduled for a parade and want to pocket the $$$? or would you want to actually use your budget for big floats, musical performances, candy and necklaces to toss out, and similar excitement?
and which one gets the crowd excited? which one makes the crowd want to support or otherwise care about you?
I've been in Fire for a little over 7 years now, unsure when I started to participate in Dom. I'm always to help out the AA team with any dom events because I just love doing dom stuff and creating spreadsheets or the like. I'm very tempted to take a vacation, what I'm calling it because I know I'll get very homesick, but I'm just not sure where to go. Earth seems the logical choice since I wanna be big into dom, but I also just really want to help out with events. Like, I've always wanted to host an event or join the AA, because of how much I love dom and creating things for it or participating. But leaving is absolutley terrifying, and even thinking about it gives me anxiety. A pit in my stomach. The flight has become your home, and you've been there ever since you joined. I really don't know what to do, but it sounds like Fire is crumbling without me even noticing.
All of that, but also, like, stepping back and not going for other flight's fests is, at the end of the day, not mandatory. Its a pretty organic development of a social tradition.
Its a GOOD tradition that is really cute and says good things for the generosity of the community in general, i think, and i love that we as a community decided to do it, but ultimately its somewhere between a social contract and a courtesy, and at the and of the day people like helping, but they DON'T like feeling taken advantage of, so seeing AA put in a fuckin' barrel bottom scraping show feels.... Eh. It's a bad scene.
its really interesting how in the last month there was discussion on SMR about festival dom stealing. the general opinion was that it would be fucked up for another flight to maliciously try to steal someones festival.
it says a lot about FR's community that nobody even considered that a dom team would try to take advantage of that festival courtesy.
earth won't beat them; the dom team is v aware of their reputation and will figure something out if earth is in danger of beating fire, like how they sent dragons to ice and plague before WvE to avoid going into the battle with fatigue.
Come to Water! you won't regret it - the dom team is super welcoming of people wanting to do events. that's why I joined originally and I'm really pleased. we also do tonsssss of stuff, like we have a few conquest pushes planned for the rest of the year.
I haven't been in Water in a few years (since I've mostly been afk on the site), but of the flights I was in, it had easily the best dom scene -- and enough hands and structuring to make sure that even with dom head turnover they'd still be set up for years to come. The couple friends I still have there still recommend it, so I'd say it's a safe bet.
