I don't know if this counts as a crush exactly, but I have a secret fondness for a player who is(was?) a huge opera nerd (like myself). I often wish we could have met in real life--we could have chatted for hours about the subject!
They've been inactive for years now, but sometimes I visit their lair just to look at the beautiful operatic dragons there.
as someone with lifelong emotional problems who gravitates towards fawning after people who can provide guidance and leadership, i had one-sided squishes on dom heads a few times. they never knew. they never will.
I get friend-crushes on writers and artists, but I tend to find writers more approachable as a fellow writer. Sad to see them leave sometimes, but if you've got the gift, fandom is a bad place to stagnate and I understand why they move on.
I feel this way about a lot of fanfic authors from mostly-dead fandoms.
There are stories I still reread periodically even years later because they're just that good, and I yearn for more of the authors' work, but it's certainly reasonable that they're not inclined to either A) keep sinking effort into such a relatively thankless medium or B) link their fic profiles to their actual RL identities so that I can read the novels that, if there's any justice in the universe, they've been able to publish by now.

Fanfic truly is a thankless medium sometimes, and it's the people who DO give thanks in form of comments, kudos, etc that keep us writing.
