As a fanfic writer who is working on publishing their first novel in a series, I can promise you- if you comment, they'll know, and love you for it.

I get comments on my old work once in a blue moon and it always gives me a surge of serotonin, knowing someone still reads my work.

Fanfic truly is a thankless medium sometimes, and it's the people who DO give thanks in form of comments, kudos, etc that keep us writing.
