I've been waiting since last night for final's new accent preorders to go up because they're gorgeous and now they're up and apparently they're 3000g each. I can't justify spending that much on a 20-print accent and I'm pissed but I would never say that in public, just felt the need to rant about it here. #firstworldproblems

I agree 3kg is a bit much, but I also think it's really useless how limited it was. "I'll print another round in case the first fills up" of course it will, you're one of the most popular accent makers on the site?!

Can't complain about resellers when you operate like this, I guess. RIP to all the people in the thread who wanted a copy but won't be able to get it.

Especially after they hype-pinged everyone yesterday. I don't think they mentioned anywhere in that first post that they were going to be limited :/

(OP of reply) Yeah. There was absolutely no indication that it was limited. Not to mention, before slots even opened, nearly all of the first runs were already filled up by their friends. Felt a little unfair. :/

I understand exclusivity is big in the skin + accent world, but I think this was handled poorly all around.

I'm just gonna try to keep trending towards talented newcomers who can only afford to print 5-runs. Scarcity *plus* a hispter quality. (In all seriousness, I'm glad there are a lot of great new artists coming in, and often their stuff is less constrained by the skin trends we see everywhere too.)

I just want to throw in that it wasn't really a "hype ping", they had already said multiple times before that when people asked that they would be limited, and pinging their shop was so that everyone would know when they would be released, giving people a better chance to sign up. And I can truly understand why they decided on limited runs, I can't even imagine how much work it is to coordinate skin releases when you have 20+ runs to submit and send out, these people do skins as their hobbies, they are allowed to deal with their sign ups how they want to.

yeah i don't understand why this specifically is getting people upset when other artists have done similar things, like ysdaar who also has released high-priced 10-20 prints, or ado who almost only releases customs via auction. i guess i don't get what is so reprehensible about this situation in particular.

I hate it when any of em do that shit. But this one someone else brought up so I'll join the disdain.

I literally don't follow final anywhere except for being on their pinglist. That first ping was the first time I had heard of these accents so I wasn't aware of anyone asking about them previously, hence the hype-ping comment. and yeah, people have the freedom to do signups however they want, but I was disappointed, hence why I'm complaining about it on an anon comm and not in the public eye.

They do it because they can and fools keep eating it up. I'm sorry, while I like paying artists for their work... They're charging the price of a whole 10 pack for one copy(if accent, if skincent, 2 pays for the pack, I think?)

I'll support the little guys with pretty art that appreciate my business, rather than the ones that made it so big that they don't care.

Makes me just appreciate other similarly popular, if not more popular popular artists more, who could also pull this shit, but instead make their accents more accessible.

honestly, creativity is dead on FR. in a way I kinda wish all the artists who draw these over-detailed generic accents would start working on their normal art, because literally each of them is such an underwhelming "normal" artist. it's kind of wild to see sometimes. when you can draw on dragon bases but can't draw your own art for shit.

Calling an accent generic is not nasty, neither is calling someone's art underwhelming. And a remark about people overpaying for generic popular stuff is also not nasty. It's one of the most common types of comments to be made about overrated popular music, movies or books, so I guess it works for accents on FR, too.

ayrt - i actually fully agree with the anon's point about accents being generic, so that's not what i am talking about, sorry that i wasn't clear. but saying "literally each of [every accent maker] is such an underwhelming "normal" artist" and that they "can't draw their own art for shit" feels really unnecessarily mean to me. i do agree that people can improve their accents by working on their own original content, but why can't you just say that instead of blanket insulting all accent makers as bad artists?

Generic actually is the reason why it sells so well, I guess. You can reuse the accent for many dragons. I would have bought one of those if they were half the price and not required me refreshing the page at 18 PM FR time - not worth the hassle. I am sure, even if I exalt the dragon I had bought it for, I would still find use for it eventually. I can't say the same about more specific creative accents.
