basically, yeah, that's actually a really good comparison. it lets you make a little one-page website, and people in fannish/"stan" circles on twitter use it to make extended bios, since you cant make one on twitter itself

Carrds (and also linktrees) are kinda online business cards. It's handy for artists, e.g. on twitter where you can add only one website address, to link to their carrd and put links to all social media on the carrd instead. Makes it easier to update links as well or kick out inactive accounts.
It's also an easy way to create resource collections.

Idk if that was actually a question or not lmao, but I felt the urge to mention those carrds can be quite handy. If you actually have anything to put on them that is.

They're also great for roleplay- especially on twitter, since the alternative is having a pinned tweet/thread.
