reminds me of how people with "high IQ" will brag about how they have a Mensa membership card but do stupid ass shit all the time that make you think otherwise.
IQ is a baseless measurement centered around class/race anyway, and has no standing in actual intelligence.
I was IQ tested when I was younger because I taught myself to read at 2 1/2, and was reading high school level books when I was 7, and understood at age 10 during history class that Animal Farm was an allegory to the Russian Revolution- I'd read it at age 8.
My IQ results were 165.
Yet, I'm a dumb ass whose only real "area of high intelligence" is microbiology, physiology/anatomy, literature and reading. I actually have dyscalculia, and can't do even basic remedial algebra without SERIOUS help/aides, and have problems remembering formula, dates, and faces.
It caused serious Gifted Kid burnout for me, and literally disappointed my mother so much that it caused her to neglect me in favor of her other kids, and I've been in therapy for it for YEARS lol.
As Einstein said: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
Anyone who brags about a high IQ and takes it seriously has never had their entire life pressed down by the expectations brought on by it, has a complex to compensate for something else, or has drank the koolaid.
big +1 to all of this, growing up I was always told I was super smart bc I read early and often and I was good at math and multiple-choice tests, but now that I'm older I've realized that being "book-smart" is actually something to be ashamed of if anything (esp considering how ppl like that are exponentially more likely to be nasty self-absorbed shits, bigoted redditor chuds, or both) and when it comes to the areas of intelligence that actually matter (emotional and creative) I'm practically an invalid lol
oh yeah for sure. I never took IQ as anything other than just an imaginary number. I didn't even know what my IQ was until my late 20s and it's only because I came across paperwork my parents were hoarding from when I was diagnosed with a learning disability as a toddler. Thankfully my parents didn't ever mention how low it was and didn't treat me differently because quite frankly I'm doing great as an adult in life and am actively following my passions unhindered and didn't need a stupid ass number to weigh me down. Thanks mom and dad!
ah and, I'm sorry your parents treated you like that, nonny. You didn't deserve the high pressure forced onto you and getting neglected, especially not over something as stupid as an IQ and getting burned out as a result. That sounds really rough and I don't think thats something anyone should go through. :/
"I too have been blocked by people who have never interacted with me but I've learned to just let it go. I want to be as just and righteous as possible, so if a misunderstanding happens, I know my heart is in the right place and that I have done nothing wrong. Heck, I've studied and aced ethics for 4 years for a reason!! fkldjklfgj"
