I was utterly dissapointed when veilspuns could just have been another modern breed, they have the same shape as moderns and don't break the mold as "promised".

Galoers - First Ancient, nice introduction to them, standard mold tho
Banescales - Cool stuff, break the mold
Veils - ... could have been a modern honestly

I hope the next ancient will break the mold, and that dramatically, come on, go wild FR artists!

veilspuns being bug-like would have been a great opportunity for a breed with six or even eight legs. theyre pretty and i like their lore but they really feel like theyd be fine as a modern breed

DA

omg I never even thought of that... unfortunate that it would probably distress some people like multigaze does but it'd be sooo cool

tbh I was let down by veils too, they've grown on me a lot now but they're still very basic. I think they could've done way more with the bug-like aspect, like the only exploration of that was beetle tertiary and this is harsh but imo it's one of the worst genes.
I think gaolers were more successful at actually feeling like they broke the mold to some extent because genes like scorpion, shardflank, and especially gnarlhorns were some of the wildest things we'd seen to date. Like sure, one head 4 legs but they were FUNKY! We need more of that
