Spassow has been called out by the whole fr Chinese server due to tracing and art theft. Also, managing to pissed off one of the biggest whales on fr (Victornikiforov) Leading to a very well composed and detailed callout post on weibo(smth like twitter but based in China)

i think we had a thread on Spassow in the old com, where the consensus was "well the proof isn't enough" despite showing literally traced GBF artwork and original art side by side.
glad to have more on this now, Spassow has been on my shitlist since long

god the accent market and community are so foreign to me. I will never understand either of them. Retired accents at like 10kG? 20kG? wha

(I am not bashing, just confused and sort of venting. I always see UMA sale threads pop up and like....40 dollars for THOSE pixels? hell no..and how do you even make a price for that stuff? aaahhhh)

I KNOW RIGHT, I only ever buy UMAs when they're printed and also very few so I don't really know what the reselling "community" is like, but sometimes I get GASP pings and I just. 40KG? I could complete my familiar goals (barring a Light Sprite + KS fams) with that money.

it's really only customs (the absurdly limited 5-10-20 prints) that go for that much, and part of that is due to their rarity and uniqueness. much like g1s or oldies

proportionally very few accents go beyond like 3kg, and the ones that do are usually apel/ravenhearst/necrophades/spassow/spinaria/accents/spikulec/maye/daintyboots/auroshen/houseteeth/limeypie/fenmori/sorai/swiftkicker/churyu/asmo/etc.

Huh, okay, so while the straight up tracing/copying is really bad, some of these kind of look like a stretch, no? A lot of accent artists slap a hundred wings or ribbons or whatever on accents like that. And there are only so many things you can do with this "overdetailed but fancy uwu" style, they sorta started looking all the same years ago.

Is it because SS has been getting inspiration from the same few people? Sorry, I'm not very experienced in this whole area. Not trying to defend Spassow - tbh I hate this style with passion and am glad FR will be getting less of these - but I am curious about the whole "how close is too close" issue with accents, god knows many accents look similar these days, yes I am looking at male Wildclaws.

Ughhh that red SDF one is literally beat for beat copied from Spinaria’s... When I saw them auctioning it in January I actually thought it was a copy of the Spinaria skin, and I was sad I didn’t have the money... Glad I didn’t sell stuff to bid.

Okay so obviously a lot of things were wholesale lasso tooled and pasted onto their accents and that's incredibly scummy, but I'm confused by "you color picked without changing it up"? Is it considered theft to use the same color palette as another image if you do draw everything yourself?
