i am so glad I'm not alone in this

When i see a massively overpriced "retired' UMA like that I literally just take the concept of that accent and take it to an underrated accent maker and give them my specifications to change it into something similar but even better fitting for my dragon for a FRACTION of the cost, including a juicy tip

oh and, if you like a particular accent/skincent so much to want to pay so much for it, it's totally cool. It's your money and you do what you want with it, I am just perpetually baffled by the UMA mareket is all

You know copying a pre-existing accent, even with changes, is still copying, right? Those were original ideas that an artist came up with, and asking someone else to remake it to your specifications is just paying them to plagiarize that idea.

Having original ideas is overrated. As long as the artist is doing all their own work to make the lines, I can't say I care about an idea being copied. That's not what plagiarism means.

the definition of plagarism:

"the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own"

I seriously doubt an artist working on commission is going to claim the idea was theirs. And the person doing the commissioning already said they get the idea from elsewhere. Nobody is trying to pass off an unoriginal idea as their own, and it doesn't matter as long as the artist is doing all their own work on the drawing.

Then the whole thing was fucked from the beginning on, this isn't really an excuse

Why not just ask for something original instead...?

Yeah, I take the concept and commission someone for something similar but even better fitting for my dragon. And I am sure this goes without saying but my commission is in the style of the commissioner, not the "original" accent I like the concept of
