That subreddit is an excellent guide to the dangers of Harry Potter fanfiction. On that same note, this isn't in the exact vein, but check out the Behind the Bastards episode on the Zizians if you want to hear an absolutely wild tale of bizarro internet brainrot (presented as matter of factly as possible)

"The number of cults specifically formed around Harry Potter fanfiction is GREATER than one and that is wild to me"
"I'm shaking because I can name several Harry Potter cults and I don't think this is one of them"

Let me tell you the yell I yelled when I realized that I'd read the fic in question. I'd always been waiting to hear that that fic was involved every time I'd hear about a Harry Potter cult, and finally the time was ripe. It just has such a culty ~flavor~ and I remember being so disappointed when it devolved into weird metaphysical navel-gazing instead of continuing to poke holes in JKR's worldbuilding. I had SUCH a good time with that BtB. 0/10 for Harry Potter fic tho.

More people need to listen to BtB. It's definitely become popular but it deserves more views/listens than... other podcasts out there with significantly more reach. If you're a history fan out there reading this and you've never heard of it check it out! It's just a podcast covering shitty people throughout history (including modern) through an occasionally comedic, left wing lens. Robert (the host) doesn't subscribe to any specific ideology but a lot of his views are in line with anarchism.
