I dont know anything about chickenasmoothie but I guess if someone makes a pet design or something the official CS staff can like make a different pet version or something? And I guess dog treat wasn't notified that their caterpillar design was going to turn into an official doggy thing design? :0
Yeah, basically. In December, CS has an advent calendar event where new pets are released every day, and one of the special things are the release of 'GUPPS' pets. CS pets have multiple stages of growth and pets that use a lineart before the final adult stage are called PPS (like permababies on FR, basically). GUPPS are grown-up versions of previously-released PPS pets.
So dogtreat made a PPS pet that was released last year, then this year another artist used the design for a GUPPS pet (the caterpillar lineart is the first stage of the butterfly wolf lineart, hence why the soot caterpillar design 'grew' into a doggy thing). tbh I have not been following the drama at all nor am I that into CS stuff since I just collect monthlies so idk how normal it is for site artists to make GUPPS of other artists' pets.
