hi nonnies i am sick with the flu and i want to participate in what has been my normal way to approach the internet since 2009 which is to lurk around on websites, but there are no websites that i can do that on anymore. I scroll on a tumblr blog and I go back 5 months in two pages because it is a ghost town, I refresh dreamwidth but my comms get like 5 comments a day max. Anything on my phone might be more alive, yet doesnt feel that way because it is often more ephemeral or nonchronological, it doesnt feel like a buzzing hub of a city. is bluesky the only thing that will do that? feels wrong. Everywhere is like a ghost town, where did everyone go?

the something awful forums still feel like old internet and the new owner is a decent person (so far)

I would avoid anything in the "main" section and check out the subforums from "discussion" and "fine arts" first though for interesting topics

My bf has had a membership since the early days of sa's inception and it's surprisingly active but also with a lot of stuff that isn't just people trolling - there's a whole damn subcategory for veterans and resources that I never would have found on my own.

Despite the reputation, they have rules and standards like arr has. So consider this another recommendation for sa.

Bluesky and Reddit are where I find the most people/posts these days. On Tumblr I follow tags for stuff I'm into more than specific blogs or communities.
