And yeahyeahyeah exactly that, like if it was something that WASNT a hate symbol but was still offensive or disrespectful or just inappropriate for the forums i'd be a lot more lenient with them
but it's because racist and nazi sympathizers and other bad faith actors along those lines specifically THRIVE on being able to coast by on shit like plausible deniability and gaslighting and DARVO that i'm so hesitant to give them the benefit of the doubt in this case.
ESPECIALLY when there's an extremely concerning amount of nazi sentiment building up among the youth nowadays (any amount is extremely concerning but you get what i mean lmao) so their age/maturity isn't a completely valid excuse either way. like when you have the internet at your fingertips and a dedicated online presence you stop being able to deflect with "i just didn't know" when there's so much information out there
