I'm honestly very put off by the player base at this point. Everything has to be picked apart to death or seen in the worst light or has to cater to the commenter's specific taste.

Honestly the Everlux reaction made me feel like I'd never go back to socializing with other players on the site and watching this go down just cemented it for me. I'm staying off on my corner now. It's too much negativity and bad faith readings drowning out any constructive feedback.

It's too much entitlement. Fiona exists for fucks sake you're only not getting the item you'll still get the bond rewards just like all the KS familiars that not everyone can have. The whining about it being a gem breed when the site needs money to run and this is the first gem breed in a while. This one's popular too so it'll get the heck bred out of it and people will have babies in the AH for cheap in way less the the year some people are moaning about having to wait.

I quit because I was burnout from dom activities and now despite kind of wanting to make friends again in game I think I'm better off sticking to the people I already know from outside FR to talk about my dragons with even if they don't play.

There are small good niche communities, but it's a feat to find them. And the good ones tend to be very cautious about adding new blood because the general population is, well, like this.

Yeah, I understand that completely and I'm happy for people who have managed to carve out those niche corners. I hope they stay protective of those spaces. They're better kept small. My friends like my oc ramblings well enough. They'll just need more context than people who play when I talk about things.

OP here, there are still good folks! My entire flight discord is good and doesn't participate in the negativity. Dunno about other flights. It's just a vocal minority that acts like this (and if you've been around long enough, you start to notice repeat offenders). Just...don't go into the forums after big announcements/releases. The negativity feeds off itself in there like a weird ouroboros until the mods can wrangle it down.

also got to remember a good chunk of FR's userbase are minors and teenagers are just generally annoying lol. I certainly had some obnoxious takes on various forums I was on at those ages

Sorry but just no, nope - I think that saying that a good chunk of userbase are minors is an excuse for the truly shitty behavior because any time I visit some random vocal user's profile, they are very often an adult (if age is written) or I can infer that they must be an adult (like, 5 year old account, minimum age 13, they must be 18 at least).

I feel like there's definitely an asshole phase between 18-25. I was 100% a little shit between 20-24. (I'm talking, I was a /b/tard levels of asshole, and I am not proud of that, but it is what it is.)

It's a subject that's come up with friends before, and just about all of us agreed that at that age, we were edgy or an asshole, or a smug nihlist, etc. But growing out of that phase just came with being an adult- you kinda just grow out of being an edgelord because having bills and a job tends to change your perspective and priorities.

Some of us just... hold on to a bit of salt lol.

Understatement, ages 18-24 are the prime time for assholery, because you're still in the mindset of "I'm an adult now I'm mature!" but the maturity is being a dick or edgelord.

depends on what you define as "truly shitty", yeah an unfortunate amount of brainrot takes I've seen I know to be made by adults, I was moreso referring to the forums and discord and the sort of whiny behavior I've seen there, I'm sure a lot of people whining about the upcoming fam costing money are minors, which would make sense because most probably wouldn't have an income of their own

like I've fully left all of the major fr discord servers because they're clearly full of minors. which isn't surprising but I don't want to socialize in a space full of kids. unless this demographic has somehow changed since. but I wouldn't know because I, well, left them all.

it really is impressive how FR is one of the last remaining games with an active forum culture and yet the players make me want to avoid it
