Saying this on the Livejournal replacement is crazy.

The same principles apply to literally any other website. TikTok is substantially more predatory because engagement with the platform is done primarily through its recommendation algorithmic feed, but a platform like Reddit is just as capable of letting you have a good time. I have a great time on it because I stick to a small group of niche subreddits.

Nobody's saying the platforms themselves aren't bad. But Tumblr, like any other platform, is not bad if you aren't constantly surrounding yourself with misery and negativity. It doesn't have to be a black-or-white thing.

It's not just the platform, it's how you use it. Or in the case of folks who let the algorithm lead the way, let it use you.

HOnestly, social media is just like the internet itself. It is a double edged sword. It can be good, it can be bad, it just all depends on who is using it and how.
