Additionally - FR lore is set up as a framework for people to write their own stories in. FR doesn’t allow for really dark stuff (PG-13 label after all) but there’s still room for lots of unsettling and complex dark topics in that range. But if you want to make lore accessible to everyone, it’s a lot easier to have a story that’s relatively mundane that can then be used in both a fluffy and a terrible context than it is to start with something Grimdark and lighten it up.
Yes and, they don't want to alienate their userbase. Which, again, being trauma-aware and listening to the community about what is and is not comfortable is a good thing imo.
