"Bug "fat" and mammal "fat" are quite different, but even then, "horrendously and grotesquely bulging" is a common thing in horror design for a reason. If nothing else, it comes across as un healthy, which is the real fear being triggered. Like, it's the fat itself that's scary, not the thing with the fat on it. Makes you think of choking and dying and stuff, at its tamest. It's more of "I don't want to be afflicted" in that case, than "eew, that person is fat and thus gross." But as I said, bug "fat" is more "that's going to make a whole puddle when it explodes when it gets crushed. Eew." because of the prospect of getting rid of the things."
1. Shape =/= health. The notion that fat or a certain shape is inherently unhealthy is a false diet culture and fatphobia narrative.
2. It sounds like you've got some serious personal issues to deal with if you *see* fat and immediately compare it to body horror, and thinking of choking and dying, or "Being Afflicted."
3. Why are you thinking of squishing them? That was not even a thought that crossed my mind when I saw the art.
