I’m about to say something that’s probably not That Deep so feel free to totally brush this off. On Farglow’s page Varnish mentioned being bisexual, so now their entire spiel reminds me of the “gay people I respect/gay people I don’t respect” meme. Or it’s that very sad phenomena where an oppressed individual will verbally say they don’t mind hearing bigotry in an attempt to curry favor from bigots. Because they’re trying to cement themselves as one of the ‘good’ oppressed people, and the ones who get offended are the ‘bad’ ones.

It's an attempt to buy safety by throwing someone else to the tiger. They ignore the fact that the tiger never stops being hungry, and eventually there'll be nobody else to throw. Most of the time, they don't even have the self-awareness to realise that's what they're doing.
