Mad respect to them for showing people how to game the system. I think most artists would keep that to themselves to keep winning.

Also the fact they were writing their thesis while doing their win streak? Holy fuck.

They do seem miserable all the time. It also seems like they seek the attention though.

I'm glad they posted this! I never liked how seemingly upset people got about how often they won, when it's clear they're just really good at catering to what the staff are looking for in fest skins. What sort of themeing, how to reduce competition etc. These are things SO many people don't consider enough whatsoever so of course they get upset when someone who does understand wins a lot.

I don't even trust all of the the kids making these kind of buttons as if serious health health conditions are collectible pokemon cards. Some kids lie so often about having medical conditions for clout and can have a dangerously stereotypical understanding of what they appropriate. Even when kids do tell the truth and act with integrity, I also agree that it's probably not a great idea for their privacy to share that information.

some people use it to express their needs, some people use it to find people with similar conditions, and some people do it out of pride for overcoming them.

however, i developed the theory that it also has partly to do with the aggression people experience and dish out online. people so often feel the need to have to justify and defend their words and actions by validating them with these conditions, and by showing off these buttons, they can point to them and be like "yeah but i have [CONDITION]." it could also come from the need to have people give more attention to their words by validating them with conditions; everyone has so many needs to be met, that sometimes people think they have to preface their wants with "please help me, i have [condition]" in order to get people to look at it.

for example, very recently i had to put up a fund for a need i have, but in order to feel more secure about asking for it and raise my chances of getting the help i need, i felt i had to justify it with my own conditions.

i don't think it's smart to broadcast information unless necessary and should only be done when it is needed and only as much as is needed. i also think that people shouldn't feel so stressed that they feel they have to give this information in order to justify their existence and their stances. there's so many awful people online who use every scrap of info they can to hurt people, and it just makes it so much easier to get that information. it's the same with DNI lists; while the intention is genuine (an attempt to ward off people they don't want to associate with), it's just giving people more ammo to hurt you, and the internet is not a safe place to be doing that.

the buttons have good intentions but have gone way too far; what was initially just pronouns and LGBT+ identification has spiraled far out of control.

What fresh hell is a legacy dragon and why there should be some sort of etiquette about what you can do with dragons you own? Frankly, it sounds like you're overthinking, just do whatever and forget about other players' imagined lore.

Literally not the same person. Because I viewed that dom advice as condescending because I was involved with dom and know what other flights do and don't, hence I can evaluate when "dom advice" is condescending, but I have literally no idea what is that accent drama.

It's the same with his hatchery. I don't get why people buy his dragons, often they are nothing special, even have basic genes, but are expensive compared to AH.

Does anyone know from whom he bought the new G1 imp?

It's not gaming the system though? There's nothing in that thread that isn't also in official communications in some form or fashion.

lineage/legacy dragons are descendants of "notable" dragons. popular ones include generation 2 Imperials, children of Naomi->Willow->any of her descendants, children of #666 Ignis, et alia.

NAYRT I have been involved in dom in different flights and they definitely don't do all of the things on that list. To this day I'm baffled by the flight that expected attendants to pay for PBs with their own funds... I hope they've changed that!! There are also a couple flights that could stand to take the "buy yourself first place" advice to boost morale in their flight. If Arcane stopped profit pushing every month and did more PBs it'd really turn things around for them.

"however, i developed the theory that it also has partly to do with the aggression people experience and dish out online. people so often feel the need to have to justify and defend their words and actions by validating them with these conditions ... sometimes people think they have to preface their wants with "please help me, i have [condition]" in order to get people to look at it"

This is very insightful, and have come to the same conclusion as you. I have unfortunately found it to be true sometimes: someone's admission of trauma or identification with a marginalized identity lends them authority or validity in a certain situation. It shouldn't have to be that way, and I would argue social spaces with such (unusually unspoken) requirements are harmful. Unfortunately there are a lot of pockets like this on the internet, from subreddits to Discord servers and even group texts among friends.

It dilutes the word trauma if people use it to describe things that don't quite meet a certain threshold, and it encourages people to make their traumas/marginalization a larger part of their identity than is probably healthy. It also leads to strange phenomena like relatively privileged people who REALLY want to be oppressed and attempt to claim victimhood in unexpected ways, as well as people applying the perpetrator/victim dynamic in situations where it is not really appropriate.

I do worry about super online young people, especially lgbtq kids who primarily find community/friends online, internalizing this kind of thinking into adulthood. I don't think it's healthy to learn to use your marginalization as a social defense and I don't think it contributes to personal growth; after all, being disabled or mentally ill (or lactose intolerant lol) isn't an excuse if you treat someone poorly.

I read an essay a while back that I thought was interesting and was related to this subject. Warning, it's pretty long, and apologies if you like Hannah Gadsby as the author really rips into her, but the author is an older queer activist who shares a different perspective I don't see often. I don't agree with everything in it, but the general idea rings true for me. I highly recommend it! :)

replying to myself, Alyxsandre sent out ANOTHER ping today. decided to check their post history to see if i could find how many other times they'd pinged for a certain dragon, by searching their mentions of the dragon's ID# in the "Dragon Sales" forum.

June 2022 - this dragon "must go," priced at 70kg. (in another post on the thread made July 1st they said they'd ping again - sometimes they'll edit an old post in a thread to add more pings & then point to the first post, which can be confusing)

thread made late August 2022 - a post added on the 7th page says this dragon was added to the first-post sales list in early October 2022 for 70kg, tentative

early November 2022 - 55kg. gets an offer for 30kg, says someone else offered 50kg. sales close after 4 days because they reached a funding goal. genuinely happy for them to get a dream dragon! (not sure which dragon it is)

mid February 2023 - 80kg. a handful people show interest but say they don't have the funds. a few days later OP posts saying ABs have been lowered - unsure if this dragon's AB is one of them because the 80kg price tag is the highest it's ever been, increasing by 10kg from his first appearance. RE-ping in the same thread mid-May 2023.

early August 2023 - 80kg.

that's at least 6 pings across a span of 10 months for the same dragon, priced at a range of 55-80kg, with one public offer of 30kg. (if it were me selling, i'd probably expect 30-50kg for him, with the upper range kinda pushing it since he is bred. 30 feels maybe a smidge low, but @ 35kg i'd feel very happy to have made the sale, and i do think he's an awesome dragon with a cool ID, so i'd be motivated to keep him - my pricing estimate doesn't come from a place of being a hater.)

according to my currently-visible alerts, i also got two other sales pings from this person on July 10th & July 16th, for old dragons other than this one. not sure how many other sales pings i've gotten from them in those ten months, but it FEELS like i get multiple pings every month. but i don't want to remove myself from the pinglist & i don't want to block them, because they do a lot of buying and selling in a market i'm also active in.

now, just to be clear, i don't hate this person. i want them to be happy & healthy & all that jazz. but this is TOO MANY PINGS. and if your dragon hasn't sold in a year when you've been consistently pinging the collectors. i'm pretty sure that means your prices are too high.

just wanted to provide some actual data with my salt this time.

wow, he has SIX gen one Imperials. a level of power i may never hope to reach :P

5 of them have purchase dates listed in their bios, so i'm guessing Vashna #69877578 is the newest one? Wayback Machine archives from 2022 all show him belonging to Shian.

his prices for g2 Imperials are in line with what I'd expect. i'm seeing some listed now for 1200-1500g, which fits cozily within market. it doesn't matter at all to me if they have basic genes or not. usually the people willing to shell out for this kind of dragon aren't shy about dumping more gems into them once they're "home."

Re: Unpopular Opinion...

I have seen people use it this way, but I have also seen people use it as a 'get out of trouble free' card (or try to), though not necessarily on FR (though I think there have been a few people who have done it).

Which is one reason why I tend to avoid people who have many of those identifiers, especially on a website that has nothing to do with them, because it often does come across more as 'I have this, so you can't chastise me for my actions' than truly 'sorry if I misunderstand something! I have X and sometimes have trouble!' (again, this is mainly with those who have multiple mental illness identifiers)

I definitely agree with the good intentions, but have always agreed with the 'the path to hell is lined with good intentions'. They can so often go wrong, and as you said, those identifiers can be used to harm the people that are using them.

Along with the idea that the other post brought up, about people using them and NOT having the condition, but only a basic understanding (OCD = obssessive cleaning of hands, or needing everything symmetrical, or being intensely clean) of the mental illness. It perpetuates the stereotypes.
