on the other side of the same coin, fuck shadow and arcane for losing their heavy exalters to flights like earth because of their shitty dom management too. they're my top aesthetic picks but i can't stay there if i plan to expand my lair more than once a year
please point out where i said earth isnt trying lmao i made it very clear that i know there are absolutely players that are. but when players plug their ears and act like earth doesnt have an advantage given their size is absolute lunacy

I do wish we'd see more diversity in subtle little things I bet most people don't even realise are actually really samey. Like you said with bogsneaks having mammalian back legs, I think that applies to basically every breed (that has back legs at least lol). They're all usually pretty mammalian/avian. I'm pretty sure every single breed has digitigrade legs, where the heel/ankle is off the ground. It'd be neat to have more breeds with plantigrade legs where the heel/ankle touches the ground. Also the actual foot and toe anatomy while they're all fairly "reptilian" looking none of the breeds actually have particularly lizardy feet, with long spindly toes and long claws that elevate the tips of the toes off the ground. It's a really unique and cool look :(
Hell, even with the more "avian" looking breeds they're still not as avian as they could be. There's strong mammalian influence in every single breed. I would love a breed that actually properly looks like a big fucked up bird. Skydancers and Wildclaws still leave a lot to be desired in that regard imo.

i don’t really get why you’re attacking the dom leads now? all of the planned earth pushes that i’ve seen have been well put together and with a lot of fun events. that has absolutely nothing to do with dom balancing. hell, last rockbreakers had an obelisk scroll in every prize pack, and there’s often really nice prizes even in side events.

Part of the problem is selling fodder to the Conquest flight still counts for profit pushes and right now water has decent prices. I switched from exalting dragons myself to selling to water a couple days ago so my heavy exalting isn't really counting for shadow at the moment. I know I'm not the only one doing this too

It is partially a skill/community issue, but at this point I think it goes farther than that.
The algorithm itself is not messed up. My guess is that's it's pretty uncomplicated and linear so in theory, if every flight had the same culture and level of heavy exalting, it should work.
But because of how simple it is, it is easily gamed. If you look at dom data, Earth used to not be a powerhouse at all. They did not automatically win due to their size.
I guess over time, at some point people realized that Earth could easily be a powerhouse. More dom enthusiasts and heavy exalters were attracted to the flight, snowballing into the effect we see today.
If the algorithm was unbalanced and Earth had a real advantage, we'd see Fire doing way better than they are now. If you look at the number of times flights place in 4th/5th/6th in addition to the top three spots, you can get a. idea of how much passive exalting a flight is doing when they're not actively pushing. This is the work of the heavy exalters who keep doing their thing even without pushes.
According to this data, Fire is a weak dom flight. Despite their size, they have not attracted heavy exalters due to a weak dom program (I have met a bunch of people who left over the past year). Even Water, a strong dom flight, does not regularly place in the 4th/5th/6th spots.
If the algo was truly unbalanced, we'd see Fire and Water placing higher on average than they do now.

I do think that current dom culture is broken in a way that is not fixable unless the devs make some changes to how dom works, regardless of whether the algorithm is currently fair or not. Whether that's tweaking fatigue or adding dom cool-downs, overhauling the incentives, or adding something new to the mix.
So many heavy exalters moved to Earth that no other flight can compete on a regular basis. I really love Undel’s art and I think she is incredibly talented, but I do think she struggles with making dragons look more diverse. I’ve always felt that a lot of her designs get this kind of samey, almost dog-like anatomy. Dragons can have so many unique and cool forms, and ancients (which were supposed to be an example of this) also have this problem. They have been so disappointing as a whole. Half of them could’ve just been moderns. Banescales and aberrations were a step in the right direction, but I don’t think they’ve totally avoided the samey-ness either. I didn’t even notice until recently that aethers have 6 arms, you can barely see them. And as much as I like the new lightning ancient’s horns, the rest of the body is really just kind of a dog’s, once again. Undel even gave them claws like the Stormcatcher’s at first, but she removed them in favor of normal arms. :/
I really hope the other members of the art team have a say in breed designing, but I don’t think they do. And until that happens I worry we’re gonna keep having the same problems.

As a pebble, I just wanna say that I don't partake in anything community wise (except for dom team pings) so if I happen to see Earth in the top 2 ranks of dom I have a MIGHTY NEED to exalt a butt ton for the sake of dragon cash knowing that my fellow pebbles are exalting a lot too. It's a weird mental rush for me. I promise it's nothing ill-willed or anything towards any flight, it's just a carry over mentality from when I was a much more active fr user in Plague 2014-2015 era.

As in like I'm not on ANY discord servers, NO pinglists what so ever, I don't check FRD, I don't check the Dom Watch. I pay attention to nothing other than the occasional glance at what is happening on the Dom board and my silly little dragons and making them look pretty

Literally same, and I'm also in Earth. The only pinglists I'm on are GASP and Gen Ones, but otherwise, I'm not social on-site. I don't even follow dom, and it's always a surprise (but not, because of how Earth is) when we get first place. It's basically a "oh hey, we got first, neat, time to cash in." I exalt a bit, but not that much (just a smidge over 1k exalts total, since I joined in like 2018?).

I rented a nest for someone and when the nest hatched and I sent the cr they didn't pick them up for a few days so I asked them if they hadn't noticed the cr and now they have me blocked. I don't want their dragons but I'm also nervous to exalt them even though I can't return them now...
If they didn’t block you, I’d say maybe give them a couple more days as a courtesy - but blocking you for trying to get them their dragons back?? When they’re the ones that rented a nest from you in the first place? Naw, exalt away.
Weird, but I'd err on the side of giving it extra time just in case the person was confused or there was a series of unfortunate misclicks.
If you rent for the Triskele network, send a PM to Litholab and let them know what's going on- they can message the owner and see what's going on.
