if you make your game actually engaging instead of nothing but mindless grinding (lorwolf, dappervolk)
then maybe people wouldn't stop playing after their off load their goods??? š¤Øš¤Øš¤Øš¤Øš¤Ø
i really don't get people like you lol it's no one but the devs fault when people don't want to play their game. if all the KS backers left because their selfish assholes who sold off their KS rewards, then what specifically did they do that makes the OTHER people (who... you know... bought those KS rewards from them š¤Øš¤Ø) stop playing?
y'all put your anger towards quite literally the least responsible party
My point is itās been only a few days. Hardly anything has been stated/written down so far and itās already marked as āGrindyā.
Hell FR is fkn grindy too, itās coli hell where you just keep training dragons over and over for some profit. Itās actually mindless grinding and I think if FR was made now people would see it as another pain simulator.
[ Granted that DVās level of unfun is practically in the carpal tunnel syndrome levels of bad (especially in their first event went where it was all clicking pointlessly and practically cutting the playerbase by half) but at that point, there was an established consensus of how the site was run. ]
If people do trade their FR for KS stuff and play LW for real, great. Iām saying that most people donāt see it that way and just use KS stuff as a way to get more FR currency. Sure call it devās fault for being unfun, but a bit of work already labelled as grindy cancels out so many games.
> My point is itās been only a few days. Hardly anything has been stated/written down so far and itās already marked as āGrindyā.
correct. because the game has fully launched. the game is real and people are playing it and already find it grindy. if you don't, i'd love to hear why people are wrong
>Iām saying that most people donāt see it that way and just use KS stuff as a way to get more FR currency.
again. if the game was fun! then maybe those people would stay :) if you've really been paying attention to LW you would also see the major red flags the dev team gives off, which contributes to people going into a "i need to sell asap before this stops being profitable" mode
you really didn't answer my question. what do the KS reward sellers do that make everyone else stop playing the game? how is that also their fault?
Fine, my fault on the KS sellers part. Iām simply not a fan of people just buying stuff ahead of time just for later profit. Itās the same concept as skins in FR where people preorder just for sale shortly down the line.
Itās not their fault per se, but in my opinion, you /want/ active players that have supported on your site to at least convince other users to try the game out first.
Having KS sellers sell it all shortly after opening basically gives any potential new users looking in(who have zero idea) a giant ādeath flagā already
coming from a person who has disposable income and frequently donates to kickstarters like this.
am i mostly doing it because i think it may be profitable on FR? absolutely. i have goals and dreams on FR that would be made easier through some cross site trading. will i continue to play the game i backed if i like it? yep! maybe even enough to not trade away my rewards (pawborough is a contender for this).
now, would i donate to a kickstarter if i couldn't trade/sell my rewards? maybe not. depends on a lot of factors. the point is, they may not get my 100-200 bucks. and if i feel this way, ABSOLUTELY a lot of others do as well.
so what does demonizing Kickstarter backers and sellers do? couple things:
1. Site doesn't get as much funding.
even if a backer has zero interest in a website, their money is still supporting it's creation. it's supporting the devs to make the game for people who are interested
2. Site doesn't get as many players
i do understand why it feels bad to have people playing the game only to profit, but why? what are they really doing that negatively effects the site?
they are contributing to the economy, they are a warm body that helps the game look more populated, it's easier to trade for things etc
but if they never play the game? now the site has less players, less of a chance to pick up and become popular, etc
who cares if people sell off all of their possessions for fr gems? how is it any different than someone quietly quitting a site because they aren't having fun?
Something I think is worth pointing out is that LW had a closed beta, and then an open beta sometime after that. We've seen quite a lot of what the game has to offer already from those two beta tests, and as someone who has participated in the open beta and concluded that the game was pretty grindy, yeah I'm going to say it's grindy at launch because nothing has really changed. Maybe actually worse since some upgrades now require premium currency, which wasn't the case in open beta...
People aren't just calling it grindy from a few days of playing. We've had about a year to come to this conclusion. You're hearing the words of people who participated in the beta, made suggestions and gave feedback on the grind, and are realizing that their words fell on deaf ears and jumping ship.
