I don't think they needed to apologize, they haven't done anything morally wrong, they're just not telling their story well.
I support their anti-crunch philosophy but I think they should've rethought how they would present the lore when they realized it was going to take them at least 5 years to follow up on their unresolved BOTE threads in any significant way. Just starting stuff without any resolution isn't keeping me invested in the lore - you know?
So no crimes by staff I just think they would benefit from rethinking their delivery.
