Yeah, have to say I'm a player who isn't bothered one whit, because the site's 'official lore' is a giant 'so what' to me. I'm never going to hew to the proper breed personalities and whatnot, there's no meaningful way that the lore connects to site activities (besides occasionally popping up in Tomo answers), it's basically just canon fanfic, and if you want to read fun dragon stories that have no practical bearing on your own lair, there are reams of fantasy novels out there to scratch the itch.

It's not like Water isn't getting new items/art for their fest because their deity is MIA. Or that, if the eventual outcome is a new breed, the delay is any more unfair to them than it is to any other player. (But then, the association between elements and 'their' breeds is another thing I don't get.)

All ymmv, of course. The #1 thing staff could do to make me a happier player is take care of UI issues, both on major and nitpicky levels. Some people want new breeds. Others want better lore.

But it's not like lore/gameplay are mutually exclusive unless the coders are the ones supposed to be writing the lore. Looks like the FR team has a couple of site coders and it's not going to be changing any time soon.

I don't want to read a fantasy novel, I want to read something relevant to the website I am on, and I think a lot of players feel that way. I think the storyline is a relatively cheap and simple way to generate engagement in the site. I think it is also a little frustrating to see something promised for several years and none of it being implemented no matter how small.

Yeah, again, I'm not saying getting hyped up about lore is wrong, just that that's not how I play - in other words, I'm part of the group alluded to in the post I was responding to. New lore (like BotE or the story parts of Dustcarve), I read for a couple of minutes, go 'Huh.', then go about my existing dailies/goals/whatever and never think much about them again. Mainly because FR lore doesn't feel relevant to my lair even if it is official.

UI, on the other hand, can affect me every single day, and new gene/familiar/etc releases can cause me to make different plans or engage in different activities.
