OP here

I found out through the Lorwolf discord.

Here's some screenshots I grabbed- https://imgur.com/a/XFxbFXs

Apologies if its a bit scuffed, I had to throw it together in 5 minutes. There's probably more but I don't have time right this second.

Honest truth: the person is a dumbass. What they did is in the same category as trading steam game keys for gems. Take away the beta and they bought game access for gems.

It's just indirect RMT.

ehhhh as someone who doesnt play lorewolf, calling it a RMT is a stretch

unless the bones? or whatever they bought can be redeemed for actual cash. to me it reads no different than buying bells on animal crossing with gems

its NOT ALLOWED but its not a RMT

The majority of the the beta keys originated from paying real cash to a kickstarter, according to everything I've found.

Maybe my wording is poor, but still they bought game access to a beta that was gotten with a real cash donation. No items or anything. Which has always been a very clear rules violation.

Except it hasn't, because the rules include this:
"In order to protect our community, trades for non-Flight Rising redemption codes are not allowed"

Trades for Flight Rising redemption codes are allowed, and have happened in the past. Those codes can only be obtained by spending IRL money. Not trading for other site's codes is a scam prevention thing, not a RMT thing.

SA as above
Also, the no selling beta access codes wasn't a thing until Dappervolk came out. Loads of people sold item-free beta access codes to DV before staff decided it was a no-go and banned anything for beta sites.

Yeah the no beta codes rule is a relatively recent rule. Not to defend the user, but I feel like some older players might make an honest mistake and not realize the rules have changed. I wonder how the admins caught him though.

My bet is they weren't subtle. That doesn't seem that user's strong point.

I could totally see a message like "here's the currency for the beta code" with the gems attached
