Idk about you but I had a lot of fun with SvI. The flights themselves had fun with the battle. Shadow not flipping was sad, but I was in no way disappointed by it. Ice had more OOF support, it happens.
Like the nonny below said flights are budgeting so the members can have a better experience. Battles are about the members enjoying it, not oofers who just want payouts raised for more money. Dont like the payouts? Cool, sell them in the AH then.
No one wants to go broke during a battle, that's why they dont go "all out". No debt means battles can happen more often, and not once every 2 years.
My point is members don't ever have to go broke during a battle. If you've planned it then your Dom team has kept fodder to push to flight members during the week with no loss to them. The Dom bank is what funds the battle and its purpose is for this exact thing. I get that you might want to not spend all of it, but surely you want people to still be talking about the fight you put up a year later, no?
No, I'd rather have 3 of them a year that include my flight than have stories of old about a battle from years ago about how fodder floor was stupid high and how long they had to fundraise to get to that point again to even consider planning another one.
I want to participate in those and not be sad if I'm busy on that one week during a year because next battle is not a year away.
I said that to anon above me asking why people want battles to be cheaper, not because we can actually do 3 a year. We obviously can't with how battles are, no shit?
I'm going to challenge one point one (several?) anons are repeating: that no mercs means that battles can happen more often. Where's your data? Frankly, from the very beginning of the site one battle a year was the most "often-est" I've seen a flight have battles, but most had one battle in 1.5-2 years - that didn't change much with or without mercs. Plague had their last battle in 2020 week 27; Nature - 2020 week 11, so when is the time to go all out? What's the point of literal dozens of profit pushes both flights have done? What is the point of 'flight bank', just to look at pretty numbers? If I lose and then my flight leaders say 'oh, at least we didn't go broke <3' I'd probably leave that flight's dom altogether because what will be the point of me taking part in future battles or donating my treasure to them if it's not going to be used? You might like having fun while losing but I have more fun while winning.
And, please, don't start crying how I don't know how much battles cost: I've seen the numbers for several battles straight from dom leader perspective.
Are you fucking kidding me? If you look at the dom watch schedule now there's a battle once every few months. There used to be battles all of the time. You need multiple times more funds than you needed just a few years ago to battle.
The hibden AND mercs changed that. Frankly, saying that mercs didn't change anything regarding how often flights battle is either naïve or it doesn't fit your chosen narrative.
Zero flights are saying "oh, at least we didn't go broke" They are saying, I hope we have enough fucking money to fund the raffle and public buy through the end of the week. It's not that they are trying to hoard the damn money. It's that they are trying to make sure it will last through the battle. If you don't understand that from a dom leader perspective, maybe you shouldn't be leading dom for your flight.
AYRT Well, that's a lot of no facts at all considering that I, as recommended by some random anon (thanks!), started selling lvl 5s for 19kt on AH while I cannot remember when was the last battle that official mercs have been offered 19kt by mid-Wednesday. Call me ignorant or whatever however much you want, but this merc has been profiting and continues profiting the same - hell, probably more - as in any other "merc-full" battle. So my belief that these terms do absolutely nothing and just hide the actual spent treasure are, frankly, validated with prejudice.
I thought we were discussing whether mercs affect how long flights put off battles for. (Which they do.) But here we go again about flights hiding costs again. You don't like the terms. We get it.
Either, Mercs are expensive and individual members shouldn't have to shoulder that cost. (Which means flights have to save more to cover it. Which takes longer, affecting the length between battles, by the way.)
Or
Mercs make no difference and it doesn't affect how often battles happen.
Both, like I said three times by now, perhaps learn to read for once.
There are no 'merc-less' battles - either flight itself covers the cost or individual members just don't donate and spend the same treasure themselves - so mercs have little to no effect on how often a flight battles because players of flight X still spend the same treasure. So flights (random anons) shouldn't pretend a 'merc-less' battle is something that will cause flights to battle more because there are no 'merc-less' battles.
I honestly think you are a fucking idiot at this point. No one has said anything about merc-less battles. Mercs affect how often flights can battle because flights have to save up for them. I can say it super slow for you if you like. Merc cost big money. Money take time. Battle take longer.
Whatever, dude, if you do not realize that someone will be saving up that merc money either way and so the battles always include costs for mercs, then I'm not here to teach you basic comprehension.
