Yeah, sort of getting tired over 'I don't want to be contacted by PM/profile contact' being turned into 'then why are you posting on the forums!!!! you are anti-social, and don't want ANY forms of communications, so you shouldn't be posting on the forums because people will reply!!!'
Forums, IE public communication, is very different to PMs/profile comments, IE private communications. Someone might be able to handle going to a park and joining a discussion group there but not want to discuss the same thing one on one with someone over the phone. With the group/forums, they can easily back out and join the discussion again when they have the energy to do so, but with more private/one on one forms, it is much harder to do so and not appear rude (and just look at how many 'I PMed this person 1 minute ago, and they haven't replied!!! how rude!' posts DR and SMR used to get and occasionally still get.) If someone doesn't want to continue the discussions in the forums, they can just not look at that thread again.
With PMs, the other person will 'remind' the person that they never replied, or consider that person rude for not wanting to continue the discussion.
