Yeah, most of these Goodreads reviews are VERY uncomplimentary, and the description looks bland too. I’m guessing it’s the kind of series that was innovative for its time but nowadays has to rely on nostalgia to sell copies.
I’ll go ahead and give this one a pass since I have close to a hundred books on my to-read list anyways.
