Spent all of NvP trying to sneak dragons past the nature attendants, despite being told repetitively that the public buy was OOF-only.

They'd purposefully wait till one of the flash sales, in what was definitely the hopes that it would be so flooded that we'd forget to check flights or accidently snag one of their listings in the rush. Anyone who messaged them was ignored, or they'd try and start an argument about how 'you had already accepted one of their dragons' and they 'didn't see why it was such a big deal and you should just accept the rest'. The second that an attendant called them out on it or canceled the listing, they'd just hop to the next person down the list and try again.

I know this isn't as big as a lot of the stuff that gets posted here, but on the public-facing side of things they've got a lot of 'go team!' flight pride and I wanted at least some kind of record out there I guess /:

... You know, if it had been me, I'd have blocked them and warned all other attendants to do the same to take the chance away. You can't send a dragon if blocked. And that is shitty. Profiting off your own Dom bank.

Oh, I did! There was a whole conversation between the attendants about how it's like they expected us to... not? warn each other what was going on? or communicate at all?

I don't think they got away with sending dragons in more than once, and I'd guess that a good handful of the current nature attendants have them blocked now. But the long-term issue is that because of site rules we're not allowed to have a public blacklist, even on the discord. And there's no way to enforce our user-created public buy rules besides politely asking them to cut it out.
I'm assuming the dom leads have probably talked about it, but beyond that.... uh...

guess the rules against public callouts are more enforced now because the last time i remember similar thing happening in my flight (3 years ago, i think) there was an undisguised discussion among attendants and trainers on such behavior (consensus was, iirc, if they want to double dip, then most of us don't want to play with them at least for that week, so majority of us blocked our 'that' person. there was no ping or active dom leader encouragement for either blocking or unblocking but i'm pretty sure that most of us just blocked and forgotten about them)

I haven't heard of anything like that being enforced any time recently.

honestly, I could be wrong about this - I'm just relaying what was told to one of the other attendants who suggested blacklisting them on a more permanent basis

Call-outs and blacklists are prohibited under Flight Rising's Harassment rules.

On FR - but how would FR staff enforce (would they at all) that rule in a random discord?

They can't enforce rules in random discords. But in order to post a link to your discord on Flight Rising, it has to follow FR's rules. Mods and organizers in Flight servers are generally pretty careful about making sure everyone sticks to those rules.

And you think that one random conversation about someone's bad behavior will just what, make the staff blacklist that link or anyone who posts it or?... There's adhering to the rules offsite and there's realizing how much power staff actually have offsite (spoiler alert: less than you seem to think).

Just to clarify, there wasn't any issue with the one-off conversation. And while nobody was outright encouraged to block them, it wasn't discouraged or shut down in any way either.

I was commenting more on any form of long-term blacklist, where keeping an eye out for them might be suggested to future attendants. So like an actual blacklist, not a casual conversation about their behavior.

What the fuck are you talking about? No one thinks that. FR has zero power off-site. There's nothing stopping someone from taking screenshots and reporting behavior in a flight server. And that CAN get links removed with enough evidence. Why chance it when you can just follow the fucking rules. Not to mention that FR's rules and policies are basic common sense whenever you have a large group of people interacting in an online space.

It's one thing to warn your raffle receivers about someone who shouldn't be slipping through. It's another thing to keep a list of people and make that list available for future receivers to block.

wow, that’s really shitty - especially trying it repeatedly and trying to badger the attendants into breaking the rules while you’re already super busy during a flash sale.

Probably a stupid question but why couldn't Solstice just send to Plague if they wanted to profit off the dom battle so much? Like I know some people look down on that but its leagues better/more acceptable to just send to the other flight instead of taking advantage of your own? I'm confused

Probably (a very wrong thought process) wanted to "support" their flight by sending dragons and still make a profit out of it. Instead of exalting at a loss (depending on how much they bought the fodder for)

Pretty sure Nature members were being allowed to fill Nature merc orders, though.

Huh, I remember some asks in Saltmine where an anon was trying to defend the idea of selling leveled dragons to your own flight with the OoF premium price, and everyone and their mom telling that anon that it was extremely shitty.

Makes me thunk.

This is so weird to me because if they were so determined to make a profit, they could have easily done that by listing on the AH and staying quiet about it, and there's a fairly low chance of being caught in a hypocritical stance. This is such a counterproductive, assholish, high-effort way to go about things!

Or, again, we were actively being encouraged to buy from Nature mercs if we were going to buy. So they could profit that way. Or use other IF programs designed to keep them from being obliged to buy/exalt at a loss.

Re: Solstices#289458

(Anonymous) 2022-03-16 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, they did this when you had a Merc program encouraging people to buy mercs from in flight?

And mercs are usually more than the public buy price.

Is this player an idiot?

Yup. T'was right there in our IF dom thread, links to connect Nature merc buyers to Nature merc sellers. So either they didn't read that, or they're an idiot, or just perverse enough to want to get away with something.
